Owen Burrows Stable Tour

The Kingwood House trainer talks about his stable stars who race in the famous silks of Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum.

There may have been no roar from the crowd with racing being run behind closed doors but Hukum’s half-length victory in the King George V Handicap at Royal Ascot provided the affable Owen Burrows with a welcome first success at the Royal meeting.

The fortunes took a further swing forward for the Lambourn trainer when Tabdeed earmarked his credentials as a progressive sprinter when beating The Tin Man half a length in the Group 3 Hackwood Stakes at Newbury on Saturday and in Twaasol, winner of the Woodcote at Epsom he has plenty to enthuse about as his season begins in earnest.

Owen said: “It was a great thrill to get on the scoresheet at Royal Ascot even though it was a bit of a shame it wasn’t a normal year but it’s there in the records. Hopefully, we have horse in Tabdeed who can carry on his progress at higher level and there is plenty to look forward to in the coming months.”

Burrows kindly spoke to Tony Elves of attheraces.com about his team down at Kingwood House Stables.
