Verdict

Having finished behind three subsequent winners in the King George V Stakes at Royal Ascot, this could prove a suitable opportunity for HEYZOOM to regain the winning thread. A 5lb rise for that fourth-placed handicap bow looks workable and a subsequent gelding operation is also expected to help. Archers Bay made the most of a drop in grade when scoring at the Shergar Cup over C&D, but a 7lb higher mark does demand more of Marco Botti's colt, so a bigger threat may emerge from the hat-trick seeking and handicap debutant Ancestor.

A strong 3yo handicap, there's surely more to come from Ancestor, a son of Sea The Stars who promises to relish the step up to 12f. The selection, though, is HEYZOOM, who has been gelded since finishing fourth at Royal Ascot on ground that was very quick. He's related to some top performers from the yard and can rate much higher than his current mark of 90. Others to consider include the newly gelded Guildmaster, who did well despite having things against him at Royal Ascot, and Decade Of Time, who has been progressing well.
