A 167-rated chaser, he won the Close Brothers Novices’ Handicap Chase at the Cheltenham Festival in 2019 and beat Chacun Pour Soi to win a Grade 1 chase at Leopardstown’s Christmas meeting.

Trainer says

He summered really well and is in great shape. We’ll be looking to start him back in the next four to six weeks. Our preference will always be to go left-handed with him, as that seems to suit him a lot better. There is every chance that he could go down a similar path to what he did last season, but we are keeping an open mind and wouldn’t be against trying something different with him in the right circumstances. He showed his versatility last season and proved that he can show top-class form at around two miles, but there is a thought in the back of my mind that he could be one to try at three miles at some stage. I’ll be having a good chat with his owners about him in the coming weeks and that might well clear the waters, but I’d have an open mind with him at the minute. Whatever route he goes down, it will be great to see him back at the races.

A 145-rated hurdler, he won a Grade 2 juvenile hurdle at Leopardstown’s Christmas meeting and finished second in the Triumph Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.

Trainer says

He is in great form and we are aiming him at that second-season hurdle race at Down Royal in a few weeks. I was disappointed with him in the Triumph Hurdle. To me it was clear that he wasn’t himself. He jumped and hung to his left and he hadn’t done either of those things before. It’s a testament to his class and toughness that he finished as close as he did. It might just have been the case that the season had caught up with him at that stage. He’s a big, scopey horse and I’d be hopeful he’ll be a better horse in physical terms this season. He’ll stay hurdling.

It was great to win a Grade 3 novice chase with him. We are aiming him at the Craddockstown Novice Chase on November 14th.

He’s a lovely horse that has been working well in recent weeks. We’ll be looking to start him back in a maiden hurdle in the next few weeks. He seems to have plenty of pace and probably won’t need to go any further than two-and-a-half miles for the time being. He’s an exciting horse.

Made a winning racecourse debut in a maiden hurdle at Navan in December and went on to finish a close second to Andy Dufresne in a Grade 2 novice hurdle at Punchestown in January. He was still travelling well in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival when being brought down at the second-last hurdle.

Trainer says

Captain Guinness summered really well, and the intention is to run him in a maiden chase later this month, possibly at Tipperary on the 20th. His schooling over fences has been very good and we’re excited about him. Looking back at his run in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, he was very unlucky with how it unfolded for him. Who knows what would have happened had he not met with so much trouble, but it looked like he was going to run a big race. Thankfully he got up ok and we can’t wait to see him on the track again.

The plan is to go for the Ladbrokes Champion Chase at Down Royal at the end of the month. It seems to be a help to him to be fresh and we’ll look to spread out his runs as best we can.

He will go for a maiden chase in the next few weeks. I’d be hopeful that he’ll be at least as good over fences as he was over hurdles. Everything went wrong for him in the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival last season. He got carved up everywhere he went and is much better than he was able to show that day. He stays notably well

I was impressed with his win at Punchestown last month. I thought he did it really well there. He is likely to run in the Listed novice hurdle at Limerick on Sunday and I’m looking forward to seeing how he measures up in that company

A 158-rated hurdler, she has won all eight of her starts over hurdles including four Grade 1 contests. Her most recent win came in the Mares’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.

Trainer says

She’s in great order and the plan at the minute is to look to start her back in the Hatton’s Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse. The thought at the minute would be to aim for the Irish Champion Hurdle after that. If all has gone well to that point, we’ll most likely have a choice to make between the Champion Hurdle and the Mares’ Hurdle again.

A 143-rated hurdler, he won a Grade 2 novice hurdle at Naas in February and made a winning return to action in a Flat maiden at Fairyhouse in October.

Trainer says

He will most likely go for that second-season hurdle at Down Royal at the end of the month. His owner Peter Michael was keen for him to start back with a run on the Flat and it was a great decision as he won a mile-and-a-quarter maiden at Fairyhouse earlier this month. He’s always shown plenty of pace at home and he showed it on that day. He’s a horse we’ve always liked, and I think there will be more to come from him over hurdles. Soft ground is a big help to him, and I think we’ll keep him around two miles.

He won a maiden hurdle at Punchestown in good style, but got a bit lost in a stronger novice hurdle on heavy ground in his only other start last season. We have him entered in a maiden chase at Punchestown next week and he might well start back there. He is filling out all the time in physical terms and we think he’s a nice horse.

Trainer says

He’s in great form and the intention is to give him more racing this season. He’s so laid back and takes a lot of work to get fit, so we think he’ll benefit from starting back a bit earlier and being kept busier. There is a Grade 3 for second-season chasers at Wexford on October 26th that we have our eye on to potentially start him back in. He ran a cracker in the RSA Chase and did very little wrong bar missing the last there. That run would encourage you that he’ll be able to compete in open company this season.

The plan is to give her a run and then aim for the Grade 2 mares’ hurdle at Fairyhouse at the end of November. She was very disappointing in the Mares’ Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival and we never really got to the bottom of why she ran so poorly that day. We’re hoping that will just prove to be a blip. We’ll keep her over hurdles this season.”

Trainer says

There is a Listed chase at Thurles at the end of the November that we have pencilled in as a potential starting point for him. After that, we might well consider running him in the King George VI at Kempton. He proved his stamina in the Gold Cup at the Cheltenham Festival and we were delighted with his run there. He might have run even better on another day too, as he met with some interference and then got a few slaps across the face off Nico de Boinville for good measure! We are really looking forward to seeing him back on the track.

He was very disappointing in the Arkle Challenge Trophy at the Cheltenham Festival. Mind, the horse he fought out the finish of the Irish Arkle with ran even worse than him that day, so maybe they both had a harder race than we thought at the time. We’ll look to start him back in the Poplar Square Chase at Naas on November 21st and will then look at the Grade 1 over two miles at Leopardstown’s Christmas meeting.

He ran ok the other day and I think we’ll get him back to two miles now and aim for the Fortria Chase at Navan on November 8th. His rating leaves him between two stools to an extent, but hopefully he’ll pay his way again.

Trainer says

She’s in great order. We had intended on starting her back at Gowran Park last week, but the ground just got a bit quick for her, so we took her out. I’d say she could well go for the Shloer Chase at Cheltenham now. She seems to love the track there. We gave her a break during the winter last season, but she’s had a good summer break this time, so we might well kick on through the winter with her.
