The winner was landing this Grade 2 for the second time, but the result would likely have been different had the runner-up jumped better. The race was weakened by the withdrawals of Marine Nationale and Solness due to unsuitable ground.
FOUND A FIFTY had disappointed in the Champion Chase at Down Royal but was stretched by the trip then and can be inconsistent. He got back on track here, jumping well from the front, and is a solid sort in this grade that struggles at the top level.
DINOBLUE was having her first run since Punchestown in May and should have won. She made a bad mistake at the fourth fence and her jumping suffered afterwards, causing her to drop to the rear of the field. She still managed to travel nicely to the second last where she landed awkwardly which ended her chances. She did well go be beaten just five lengths.
HERCULE DU SEUIL was a drifter in the betting and ran about as well as could be expected. He carried his head awkwardly in the finish.
TOUCH ME NOT was well-backed late but had no excuses having raced close to the pace. He may prove hard to place this season.
CAPTAIN GUINNESS won this race in 2022 and 2023 but was pulled up and may not be the force of old.
