Warwick - Wed 20 May 2026
REBEL TRIBESMAN has let favourite-backers down at Sedgefield the last twice, but he's one of only a few to show an aptitude for hurdling so far and can deservedly shed his maiden tag. Bathara has a few questions to answer but this does represent an ease in class, whilst The Craftymaster may well build on a relatively encouraging hurdles debut at Hereford.
TOM DESJY unseated at Uttoxeter but bounced back in no uncertain terms to record a clear-cut success at Southwell recently. Warren Greatrex's charge has only had the three spins over fences and with further improvement likely, is very difficult to oppose under a 7lb penalty. Yes And Yes was a comfortable winner at Stratford latest and is the main threat, but don't underestimate Testflight, who scored off this mark at Newton Abbot last July.
FULL FORCE GALE was able to build on an extremely promising fencing bow to score in fine style over C&D earlier in the month and is expected to take all the beating from 5lb higher. Rangatira Jack has become well handicapped and might turn out to be the main danger following a creditable second at Ffos Las, whilst veteran King Of The Story will need to find a bit more.
It's hard to get away from IL VA DE SOI, who relished the step back up in trip and reapplication of cheekpieces to bolt up over C&D recently. If Harry Derham's gelding is in similar form, he will prove a tough nut to crack off a 5lb higher mark. Crest Of Stars recorded his second victory over timber at Taunton last month and is considered back in handicap company. Jimmy Hurdstrom isn't ruled out either.
LOUIE THE LEGEND made a pleasing return to hurdles when outrunning his odds of 22/1 to finish second at Southwell and runs off the same mark. Provided the four-year-old can back that effort up, he will prove hard to beat. Buxted Reel won on the Flat at Chelmsford when last seen in October and has to be of interest back in this sphere. Onehundredneighty makes his first appearance for Ben Pauling and is also noted.
Unjeu Royal struck by a neck in a class 4 event at Plumpton last month and could have lots more to offer on just his second handicap outing, but it's MOJITO DES MOTTES who makes the most appeal. Ben Pauling's inmate clearly benefitted from a wind operation to only find one too good at Ascot in March and with Harry Cobden taking over the reins, he looks the one to be on. High Fibre may also have a say.
Bumper winner REBEL TRIBESMAN sets the standard on his pair of placed efforts over hurdles. He was beaten by a useful Flat performer last time and his point run suggests this longer trip will suit. He can defeat Mr Rafiki who ran well at big odds over 2 1/2m first time out over hurdles and should improve on what will be his second run following a wind op. Multiple Flat winner The Craftymaster may want further in time but could stay on for a place.
This could be a match race between last time out winners Yes And Yes and TOM DESJY. A 5lb rise looks lenient for the former who remains unexposed over staying trips but it is the latter who is marginally preferred. He impressed with his bold jumping last time when decisively beating a previous winner so a 7lb rise is unlikely to be enough to stop him following up. Strong stayer Edgewell can race lazily but he may fare best of the remainder.
FULL FORCE GALE can follow up on his cosy C&D win last time. The good ground will suit and a 5lb rise won't be enough to halt his progress. Jack Doyen has been in excellent form recently having banished his enthusiasm questions. He can chase the selection home ahead of inconsistent C&D winner King Of The Story who should come on for his last run.
IL VA DE SOI ended a spell in the doldrums with a win from the front last time. Though he's gone up 5lb for that he remains 6lb below his previous winning mark and he has proven himself versatile ground wise. Another last time out winner Crest Of Stars looks the obvious danger returned to handicaps off a generous mark. He relished the step up to 2m3f last time and should benefit from this extra distance. The inconsistent King Of The Road has had a wind op and is on a workable mark on his best winter form so may do best of the remainder.
Allibaba is likely to prove popular once again having landed a gamble in emphatic fashion on his return from a lay off last time. He does have a 10lb higher mark to deal with though and there is the fear of a bounce. Instead it could pay to side with the unexposed LOUIE THE LEGEND who placed off this mark on his handicap debut. The multiple Flat winner looks on a good mark based on his juvenile form and is open to progress. Veteran dual purpose performer Buxted Reel has an absence to overcome but is well treated on his last time out Flat win so is also respected.
MOJITO DES MOTTES looked an unlucky loser at Ascot last time having been hampered at a key stage but can gain some compensation despite a 4lb rise. He showed the benefit of a wind op that day and the French winner should have more to offer his new yard. Unjeu Royal got the better of a previous winner on his handicap debut last time and looks the obvious threat off just 5lb higher. Veteran dual purpose performer Bluegrass isn't ruled out off a reduced mark either with the drop in trip at a sharp track a big positive.
