Some interesting newcomers go to post, not least SIOUXPERB, whose price rose from 90,000gns as a foal to 110,000gns less than a year later. He is bred to hit the ground running and his trainer is already on the two-year-old scoresheet this season. Viking Barbie made 78,000 euros as a yearling and is another whose pedigree is predominately speed-based. Hamdani Mokhater's dam was a classy sprinter so he must be considered closely too.
Fanciulla Del West split a couple of subsequent winners when third at Newcastle, although the form still isn't that strong. BRILLIANT STAR's second at the same venue hasn't worked out too well either, but the beautifully-bred daughter of Cracksman almost overcame her inexperience when getting within half a length of victory. Out of the stable's Irish Oaks heroine Star Catcher, she will relish the rise from a mile. Kenkelly is just about the pick of the debutants.
PANTILE'S GIFT ran out a facile winner when sent off a well-backed favourite at Newcastle last week and even though he has a penalty to contend with, he must be stuck with. Crimson Rambler has been such a model of consistency this year and continued on his upward curve when just denied at Nottingham. Room Fourteen made a pleasing return when third at Wolverhampton and is one of several interesting handicap debutants, along with King Of Berkshire, Boilermaker and Joyful Lawyer.
Fenlander was just touched off at Southwell on his latest outing and will need to transfer that form to the grass. Ironist makes her return on an appealing mark and is noted, but CARAGIO might be the one. The six-year-old made a pleasing start for Adam Kirby when second over 7f at Chelmsford and he can cope with a 3lb rise to get his head back in front.
WILD ROSIE showed little in her three appearances in maiden/novice company last year, but this represents her first outing for Chris Dwyer and the booking of Silvestre De Sousa on her handicap bow catches the eye. Space Bear has already been competitive off this mark and is one to be interested in, while Eightthreeone sprung a 20/1 surprise at Southwell earlier in the month and isn't ruled out either.
Rogue Allegiance appreciated the switch back to turf when going close at Leicester last week and commands plenty of respect before the handicapper is able to have his say. However, the claims of GRABAJABBA are difficult to ignore. Having made the frame on his most recent outings at Southwell and Doncaster, the five-year-old makes plenty of appeal off only 1lb higher. Candonomore and Miletus can fight it out for the minor honours.
Plenty of these arrive with a lot to prove so a chance is taken on SHE'S CRAFTY. The daughter of Starman made a promising start for new connections when fourth at Leicester and the extra furlong appears likely to aid her cause. Lady Of Clover would have a chance if reproducing the form of her third at Wolverhampton two starts ago, while cheekpieces may bring some improvement from Lucky Sevens.
This is all about prices and pedigrees and the two that catch the eye are SIOUXPERB and Viking Barbie. The filly gets an allowance that will help but preference is for the colt. The market will confirm which is most fancied. Hamdani Mokhater a half-brother to the sprinter Born Slippy might be third best.
One or two of the newcomers could land a blow but this very much like a two-horse race. Fanciulla Del West is a nice type with a good action and one that looked a middle-distance prospect as a juvenile. She should not be under-rated but it is hard to look past BRILLIANT STAR who produced decent form on her debut despite being green and will also enjoy this step-up in trip. The 40,000 guineas Kodiac filly Kenkelly looks third best.
A lot of these are stepping-up in trip and while strictly speaking unproven at it most will probably benefit from it. PANTILE'S GIFT has certainly done better since racing over 10f and despite a 6lb penalty here may improve again at 12f and prevail. Room Fourteen has been running ok in novices got the trip up to an extended 9f last time and is another that may have more to offer at middle-distances. Crimson Rambler is in good form and also looks a significant threat.
FENLANDER appeals here. He ran well on his reappearance on the all-weather and is equally effective on turf and off a workable mark. Caragio is a danger. He came back to better form after a winter break last time and has seen his mark fall substantially. Ironist finished last season in good form and is probably third best.
SPACE BEAR is admirably consistent and switched to turf could just get her head in front for the first time since her debut. Eightthreeone got off the mark on the all-weather last time and is an obvious danger but fast ground is a worry for him with his high action. Argy Bhaji comes here off the back for decent runs in a novice and a maiden and could we well treated at the weights on his handicap debut.
This is very tight and will need a bit of luck. Preference is tentatively for PHILANTHROPIST who ran pretty well on his reappearance was consistent last term and gets cheekpieces to galvanise him. Dashing Dick is a danger. He won at Newmarket on his final start in 2025 and is another consistent sort though her ran terribly first-time out last season. Gorgeous Mr George might go well at a price. He is fairly treated on his progressive 2025 form and could get back on an upward trajectory after a rest.
This is a poor quality race to close the card. It may go to AKRIVOS who looked to need this step back up in trip when running quite well over 7f last time. Cheekpieces are also applied to buck up his ideas. Lady Of Clover is an obvious danger having run reasonably well in both her handicap starts recently. She's Crafty can also contend having run better switched to turf last time and Regal And Real who looks improved for a wind operation is also worth considering.
