Andrew Balding Stable Tour

The Kingsclere trainer looks to have an exciting mix of class and potential within his ranks, including the likes of Coltrane, Bellum Justum and See The Fire.

Andrew Balding enjoyed yet another halcyon season in 2023 when his 145 winners scooped £4,445,095 in prizemoney – a total nearing £4.5 million, which had been virtually matched for the previous two years.

Classic glory was achieved with Chaldean in the Qipco 2000 Guineas, while The Foxes (Dante), Array (Mill Reef) and Coltrane (Sagaro Stakes and Lonsdale Cup) helped swell the purse with their Group-race successes.

The Kingsclere trainer is already harbouring thoughts of a Derby winner after Bellum Justum landed the Listed Blue Riband Trial at Epsom earlier in the week, while See The Fire will be representing his power-packed team in the Qipco 1000 Guineas at Newmarket on Sunday week.

Coltrane will also bid to follow up his victory in the Sagaro Stakes at Ascot on Wednesday, and there looks to be an exciting mix of class and potential within his ranks.

With a busy weekend ahead, Andrew Balding kindly talked to Tony Elves of attheraces.com about his main prospects for the season ahead.
