Joseph O'Brien Stable Tour

The top target trainer got off the mark with Group 1 glory last year and has his string fine-tuned for more Royal Ascot success.

Joseph O’Brien only just celebrated his 30th birthday last month, but he has accomplished more than most could dream of achieving in a lifetime in racing. Having ridden 31 Group 1 winners in his first career as a jockey, he took out his trainer’s licence in June 2016 and hasn’t looked back.

O’Brien has saddled 12 Grade 1 winners over jumps and 18 Group 1 winners on the Flat, having enjoyed particularly notable victories on the international stage including the Melbourne Cup (twice) and the Cox Plate in Australia, the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf in America, the Prix Ganay in France, the St Leger at Doncaster and Prince of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot.

He hit a notable milestone in August 2022 when saddling his 1,000th winner as a trainer just over six years since taking out his licence. Having got off the mark at Royal Ascot in spectacular style courtesy of the memorable victory of State Of Rest in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes last year, Joseph is preparing another strong team to try and add to his tally at the big meeting.

He sat down with Kevin Blake from attheraces.com to discuss that Royal Ascot 2023 team.
