James Owen Stable Tour

Form profile

Winner of two of her 6 starts and currently rated 98. Returned to winning form with a half-length success from Dark Issue in the Group 3 Dick Poole Stakes at Salisbury (6f) last month.

Trainer says

She won the Group 3 Dick Poole Stakes at Salisbury last time and she is going to go to Maisons-Laffite for a Group 2 on October 10. That could it for the year unless she won and then we would consider going to America, but she has done us proud and was plenty brave enough in the finish at Salisbury last time.

Form profile

Rated 76 on the Flat and made a winning hurdling debut at Plumpton (2m) last month when scoring by 17 lengths from Raulin.

Trainer says

He only started jumping three weeks ago and went to Plumpton the other Sunday. He jumped very well, won nicely and will stay further than two miles. He has an entry at Fontwell at the weekend and is also entered at Stratford. He likes top-of-the-ground conditions.

Form profile

Winner of two of his 17 starts and currently rated 98. Finished eighth, beaten two and three quarter lengths, to Pierre Royal in the Cambridgeshire Handicap at Newmarket (9f) in September off a mark of 99.

Trainer says

He ran well in the Cambridgeshire after being slow away. He could potentially run at Goodwood on October 11 and will go to Dubai for the winter. He wants quick ground and he can go eight to ten furlongs.

Form profile

Winner of one of his 13 starts and currently rated 106. Best effort this term when runner-up, beaten a neck, to Redorange in a Listed contest at York (5f) in July.

Trainer says

He ran third in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile as a two-year-old and has run well in defeat this season and he has been gelded. He is potentially one that could go to Dubai

Form profile

Winner of seven of his 37 starts and currently rated 97 on the Flat and 143 over hurdles and fences. Finished fifth, beaten 16 lengths, to Gregory in a Listed race at Newmarket (2m) in September and had previously finished seventh, beaten six lengths, to Daiquiri Bay in the Ebor Handicap at York (1m 6f) in August off a mark of 101.

Trainer says

He is going to go back hurdling and will head for a Listed race at Kempton on October 18 in which he finished second to Rubaud last year. There is also the Welsh Champion Hurdle to take into consideration as well and he go also go back novice chasing as well. He has been very consistent and should find a race along the way.

Form profile

Winner of two of her 10 starts and currently rated 86. Gained her last win at Chester (6f) in May when beating Ruby’s Angel a length off a mark of 80.

Trainer says

She could possibly go for the Boadicea Stakes at Newmarket on October 9. She hasn’t had her ground this year and ideally want soft ground over six or seven furlongs.

Form profile

Rated 74 on the flat and 114 over hurdles. Finished third, beaten four and a quarter lengths, to Un Sens A La Vie in a handicap hurdle at Market Rasen (2m 1/2f) last Saturday.

Trainer says

“He won for us on his first start after joining us from Denis Hogan and ran at Market Rasen last weekend and finished third to one of Twiston-Davies’. He was still a bit novicey and the ground was a bit quick for him. He will stay further than two miles and he wants a bit of cut in the ground. He could go to Cheltenham in October for the Boys’ race.

Form profile

Winner of one of her 6 starts and currently rated 70. Finished third, beaten two and a quarter lengths, to Berry Clever at Newmarket (1m) last week off a mark of 71

Trainer says

She finished third at Newmarket the other day and she is going to go Juvenile Hurdling. She has done a couple of poles and things like that and could go a similar route to Opec who went for a four-year-old fillies' listed race at Newbury. That would be her main target if she takes to the jumping.

Form profile

Winner of five of his 17 starts and currently rated 101. Has figured prominently in both the Wokingham at Royal Ascot and the Stewards’ Cup at Goodwood this summer and beaten only a nose by Sondad at York (6f) in August. Finished 11th, beaten nine and quarter lengths, to Pellitory in the Ayr Gold Cup on heavy ground in September off a mark of 99.

Trainer says

He has obviously been unlucky not to win a big pot this year. He bombed out at Ayr on the heavy ground, and he will run at Ascot on Friday in a six-furlong handicap. He could potentially go to Dubai after that but will have to win to book a ticket on the plane.

Form profile

Finished seventh, beaten 19 ½ lengths, to Al Wathba at Kempton (1m) in August.

Trainer says

He ran at Kempton on his debut and ran very green. He is going to run on October 12 at Yarmouth over ten furlongs and he is nice horse by Cracksman.

Form profile

Winner of four of his 27 starts and currently rated 83 on the Flat and 128 over hurdles. Scored by half a length from Echalar at Yarmouth (1m 2f) in September off a mark of 80.

Trainer says

He won very well at Yarmouth a couple of weeks ago and wouldn’t want the ground too soft. He was second to Rubaud in the Elite Hurdle at Wincanton last season, and he wants a small field and fast ground. He could go to Chepstow or Kempton same as Burdett Road and we will split them up.

Form profile

Winner of five of his 30 starts and currently rated 86 on the Flat and 120 over hurdles. Landed the Summer Handicap Hurdle at Market Rasen (2m 1/2f) in July when beating Indemnity two and three quarter lengths off a mark of 112 and followed up with a length and quarter victory from Percy Shelley at Newmarket (2m) in August off a mark of 79. Finished runner-up, beaten a length and three quarters, to Moon Chime in a handicap at York (2m 1/2f) in September off a mark of 84.

Trainer says

He is entered in the Cesarewitch and whether he gets in or not is debatable. He won the Summer Hurdle, and he will run in those sort of handicaps under lower weights and could be fun for his owners. He isn’t ground dependent and if he doesn’t get in the Cesarewitch he will stay on the Flat for the meantime, there are a few alternatives.

Form profile

Better effort on his debut at Goodwood (7f) in August when fourth, beaten four lengths, to Rafe’s Da Man.

Trainer says

He ran well at the Goodwood Festival and finished fourth and ran at Newmarket recently and got a bit lost in the dip. He could go to Nottingham over a mile and he will stay further. He will make a nice three-year-old.

Form profile

Finished third, beaten two and three quarter lengths, to Bidsta in a novice fillies’ at Yarmouth (6f) in September.

Trainer says

She finished third at Yarmouth behind a nice horse of George Boughey’s. She has worked to a high level at home, and she will run at Southwell on October 6. She is a winner waiting to happen.

Form profile

119 rated hurdler. Has won both of his starts since joining the stable. Scored three and a quarter lengths from Mancero in a handicap hurdle at Worcester (2m 4f) in July and followed up with a length and three quarter success from Divilabother off a mark of 110.

Trainer says

He is a proper horse, and he came to us from Paul Nicholls. He won at Worcester and Uttoxeter and he is a horse that will climb through the handicap, and we like him a lot. He will jump a fence in time, and he will go to Cheltenham this month.

Form profile

Placed in bumpers and novice hurdles and currently rated 119 over hurdles.

Trainer says

He is a new horse we bought from Tom Lacey’s yard, and he is a maiden over jumps. He will jump a fence in time and would appreciate a bit of softer ground. He is a horse we like.

Form profile

122 rated chaser and 120 over hurdles. Scored by two and three quarter lengths from Earth King when last seen in action in handicap hurdle at Plumpton (3m 1f) in May off a mark of 115.

Trainer says

He won a two-mile bumper two years ago and has developed into a nice stayer. He could win a big pot over fences over three miles. He has always galloped very well and wants fast ground and not too soft. He runs at Uttoxeter on Sunday and is having his first run after a layoff but come spring when you get that nice spring ground, he could pick up a decent prize.

Form profile

Winner of two of his 10 starts and currently rated 97. Has improved significantly since step up in trip and finished runner-up, beaten a length and a quarter, to Align The Stars in the Northumberland Plate at Newcastle (2m 1/2f) in June before scoring by four lengths from Ghaiya at Ascot (2m) in June off a mark of 91. Came from well off the pace when finishing sixth, beaten seven and a half lengths, to Small Fry at York (2m 1/2f) in August off his current mark.

Trainer says

The wheels spun on Kirchner at York, and he was a bit too far out the back. He goes for the Cesarewitch, he stays the trip well and he has a massive chance. He could then for a mile and six race in Bahrain worth half a million pounds. He won well on fast ground at Ascot and wouldn’t want it too soft.

Form profile

Placed in one of her 3 starts and currently rated 76. Finished runner-up, beaten four lengths, to Queen Of The Gulf at Newmarket (7f) last Saturday.

Trainer says

She is out of Pretty Pollyanna and was very green on her debut at Newmarket and showed a bit more next time at Kempton. She finished second to a well-touted filly of Richard Hughes’s at Newmarket on Saturday and she is entered at Yarmouth on Monday or could go back to Newmarket. She should improve further through the winter and make a nice three-year-old.

Form profile

Winner of two of his 10 starts on the Flat and currently rated 92. Best most recent effort when runner-up, beaten a nose, to Mythical Bay at Newmarket (1m 6f) in July off a mark of 90.

Trainer says

He is a schooling over hurdles and was very progressive during the summer. He will stay well over hurdles and will appreciate a bit of give in the ground. He is a nice one to go Juvenile Hurdling with.

Form profile

Winner of four of his 9 starts on the Flat and currently rated 85. Scored for the fourth time this season when beating Flash Kozo two and three quarter lengths at Kempton (2m) at the start of September off a mark of 81.

Trainer says

He has done well on the Flat this year and we gave him a little break after a busy couple of months. The Cesarewitch is his main target if he gets in and he could well be a draw horse in the race as he hits the line hard over two miles and a big field will play to his strengths. If not, he could go to York or Nottingham. He could then go novice hurdling.

Form profile

113 rated chaser. Off the mark over fences when beating Cher Monsieur a length and a quarter in a novice handicap at Southwell (2m 4 1/2f) in June off a mark of 109.

Trainer says

He has come back from a break, and he could be progressive over fences. He was still raw and a baby, but he has strengthened up over the summer and could run at Stratford on October 17. He jumps and stays well and a little bit of give in the ground wouldn’t go amiss. He will be a fun horse.

Form profile

Winner of four of his 22 starts and currently rated 137. Best effort last season when third, beaten 16 ½ lengths, to Holloway Queen in the National Hunt Novices’ Handicap Chase at Cheltenham (3m 6f) in March off a mark of 139. Finished sixth, beaten 40 lengths, to Soldier In Milan in the Irish National at Fairyhouse (3m 5f) in April on his final start.

Trainer says

He was placed in the National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham last March and never got his ground last season. He is a soft ground horse, and he could start at the end of October/early November. A possible target if it came up soft would be the Coral Gold Cup Handicap Chase at Newbury or the Welsh National at Chepstow would be another race for him. He is going to be a real staying chaser and, fingers crossed, he could turn into a Grand National horse one day. He excels on soft ground.

Form profile

Winner of five of his 41 starts and currently rated 84 on the Flat and 121 over hurdles.

Trainer says

Percy Shelley is another of our Cesarewitch contenders and he always knocks on the door and runs a consistent race. He will pop in one day where it is I can’t tell you. If he doesn’t get in the Cesarewitch, he is also in at York and Nottingham and he will also go back hurdling.

Form profile

120 rated hurdler. Scored by two and a half length from Imperfectlyperfect in a novices’ hurdle at Hexham (2m) in April.

Trainer says

He won two races for us last year and is a half-brother to JPR One. He is going to go novice chasing and he wouldn’t want it too soft. He should be out at the end of October, and he is a scopey horse who is crying out for a fence. If he is half as good as his brother then we will have some fun and, hopefully, go to the bigger meetings.

Form profile

Winner of two of his 7 starts and currently rated 87. Finished runner-up, beaten a length and a quarter, to Luansobe at Kempton (7f) in September off a mark of 85.

Trainer says

He is an All-Weather horse and ran well at Kempton last time after disappointing for us twice on the turf. He loves the All-Weather and a bend, and he came up against a well-handicapped horse of Charlie Fellowes’s and pulled clear of the third. He’s been raised 2lb and will be a competitive horse throughout the winter.

Form profile

110 rated hurdler. Off the mark in a mares’ maiden hurdle at Wetherby (2m 3 1/2f) on Boxing Day when beating Rosie Baloo four and a quarter lengths.

Trainer says

She won a mares’ maiden hurdler at Wetherby on Boxing Day and is going novice chasing. She is a scopey mare and wants goodish ground. She will be running towards the end of October, and she stays well and will jump a fence no problem. She might have one run over hurdles before going chasing. We are just waiting for a bit of rain, but she is a nice mare and has done her owners proud and will continue to do so.

Form profile

Scored by five and a half lengths from Zandahar in a bumper at Plumpton in May and followed up with a head success from Masterius in a similar event at Market Rasen in June.

Trainer says

He was working the house down in the early part of the winter last year and had a setback but came back and won a bumper at Plumpton first time out and followed up under a penalty at Market Rasen. He didn’t do a lot in front at Market Rasen, and he is going to go novice hurdling. We like him a lot. Two miles would be his absolute minimum and there is a race at Fakenham on October 16 or Huntingdon on October 28 which could be more his cup of tea.

Form profile

Winner of six of his 29 starts and currently rated 88 on the Flat and 118 over hurdles. Score by five and a half lengths from Tralee Girl on a novice hurdle at Warwick (2m) in September.

Trainer says

He has climbed up the handicap on the Flat this year and surprised us. He schooled well and bolted up in a novice hurdle at Warwick beating a horse of the Skeltons’. He has a mark of 118, and he could end up at Cheltenham at the October meeting. He wants good ground and will be a fun horse.

Form profile

Unraced

Trainer says

He is an unraced Pintubo bought by James. He is going to run in a bumper at Huntingdon on October 6 and we like him a lot and has been showing up well in his gallops.!

Form profile

Winner of one of his 7 starts and currently rated 107. One of his best efforts in four runs for the stable when third, beaten a length and a quarter, to Double Rush in the Wokingham (6f) in June off a mark of 107.

Trainer says

He was brought from Ireland and was placed in the Wokingham and also finished third in the Hackwood Stakes at Newbury. He has had a break and will run at Southwell on November 27 in the Golden Rose and will then head to Dubai and run on dirt. When Seammie Heffernan rode him in Ireland he got off him and said that Soldier’s Tree would love the dirt.

Form profile

Winner of both of his bumpers. Scored by five and a half lengths from Striking Midnight at Wetherby in December and followed up with a two and a half length victory from Garrincha in a Listed event at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day.

Trainer says

He won on his debut in a bumper at Wetherby in December and then won the listed race at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day. We were waiting for nice ground at the Festival but he didn’t get it, so he didn’t run. He will go novice hurdling this year. He has had a nice break and done well, and he is an exciting horse who will, hopefully, end up at the Festival.

Form profile

Placed in two of his 6 starts for Dr Richard Newland and Jamie Insole and currently rated 67.

Trainer says

He was bought at the July Sales by shrewd connections The Horse Watchers. He has been given a break and given time, but he will be fun for connections. He was an expensive yearling, and he will go for an All-Weather bonus. He is showing up well and we like him.

Form profile

A winner twice this season and currently rated 91. Gained his last victory in the Old Newton Cup run at Newmarket (1m 4f) in July when beating Paddy The Squire half a length off a mark of 86.

Trainer says

He won the Old Newton Cup that was run at Newmarket this year and he runs at Newmarket on Saturday. He has been consistent and is good in those big handicaps and has picked up loads of prize money.

Form profile

Placed in three of his 5 starts for Jane Chapple-Hyam and currently rated 76.

Trainer says

He is a new horse for the Rogues Gallery, and we purchased him in July. He has been gelded and is a real well-bred horse who could run at Newmarket on October 22. He looks like a horse who could progress and is by Wootton Bassett and cost a lot as a yearling. He wouldn’t want it too quick and will be seen to better effect next year over a trip. We are looking forward to getting him out and he will make a nice horse next season.

Form profile

Winner of two of his 23 starts and currently rated 61. Finished third, beaten six and three quarter lengths, to Zarathos at Windsor (1m) in May off a mark of 62 for Gary and Josh Moore.

Trainer says

He looks seriously well-handicapped on his two-year-old form and lost his form for his previous connections. I think a mile is his trip, but he could stay a little bit further. He could be a bonus horse for the All-Weather.

Form profile

Winner of one of his 6 starts and currently rated 74. Finished fifth, beaten six and a quarter lengths, to Berry Clever at Newmarket (1m) in September off his current mark.

Trainer says

He is a half-brother to Wimbledon Hawkeye, and he didn’t handle the dip at Newmarket last time. He has an entry at Yarmouth this week and he could go there and will then go Juvenile Hurdling. He makes a shape and jumps well, and he could run over hurdles at Wetherby or Kempton.
