Verdict

With one eye on the Cesarewitch in October, GOBLET OF FIRE can cement his credentials with another bold showing on the Flat. Nicky Henderson's gelding won a heritage handicap on the Rowley Mile on his penultimate start and also ran a blinder to finish third over C&D in a similar event last month. Off just 2lb higher, the six-year-old has the most highly appealing profile. Arqoob edged out Sixpack over 1m4f here three weeks ago but is 2lb worse off and might struggle to uphold that form over this trip.

Last year's winner Arqoob returned to winning ways over 12f at the course last time and he won't have any issue stepping back up in trip, but the 3yo PEARL RIVER has a bit of potential now stepping up in trip beyond 11f. He's 6lb higher than when winning at York in May, but is holding his form well and the increased stamina test could unlock more. Sixpack is another in-form runner weighted to go close with his conqueror last time, Arqoob. He's third choice.
