Ace Of Spades was progressive last season until his form tailed off at the spring festivals. Dan Skelton's charge is 4lb higher than for his last victory at Huntingdon in January and has to enter the reckoning. Idaho Fire seeks a hat-trick of victories after benefiting from a step up in trip at Uttoxeter in July, but preference is for SEANIECON. The five-year-old did well in the circumstances to finish fifth at Punchestown and appears to be on a workable mark.
An open race but SEANIECON caught the eye with an unlucky run at Listed level at Punchestown when last seen in the spring and could build on that on his reappearance. He's only 3lb higher and will be suited by this stiff track while his yard has been in excellent form in the last few days. The consistent Lihyan ran better than his finishing figures suggest in a tactical on his reappearance and should be better suited by this test. He can chase the selection home ahead of the progressive pair Divilabother and No More Bolero. The former's summer runs have worked out well while the latter is unexposed as a stayer.
