Verdict

Point-to-point winner JIMMY HURDSTROM has shown enough ability over hurdles, not least when finishing a solid third in a Warwick handicap last time, to suggest he ought to go very close in a maiden like this. Plains Drifter was a beaten favourite over C&D last month but still performed well enough and cannot be dismissed. Manalishi is another to consider closely.

Watch out for: Plains Drifter (3)

There's not that much between JIMMY HURDSTROM and Plains Drifter but Tom Lacey's runner seems the most likely winner given he's twice run to a fair level in handicaps and now drops back into a maiden contest. He stays 3m but has the pace for this trip and one would expect a forward ride. Plains Drifter has shown enough to win races but handicaps might be more his things. This is still a good opening though and he could easily put it up to the selection. Manalishi isn't ruled out either, having shpaed well on his hurdles debut at Doncaster. The longer trip here should be right up his alley.
