George Scott Stable Tour

The bright young Newmarket trainer, who is enjoying a brilliant campaign, opens up his Hamilton Road base to talks us through his top team.

George Scott can quite rightly give himself a pat on the back for his exploits this season and his handling of Isle Of Jura has been nothing short of remarkable.

Starting life rated 71, his stable star is now on the lofty mark of 119 and made everyone stand up and look twice when running away with the Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot from the subsequent King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Qipco Stakes hero Goliath.

Always realist, George said: “It was a tremendous achievement to win the Hardwicke, but Goliath put up a much improved performance in the King George and I wouldn’t be so brave to suggest we would have beaten him there.

“Unfortunately, Isle Of Jura has met with a setback and we will train him for the Hardwicke again. Ideally, he would have a run beforehand at the Guineas meeting but he could go straight to Royal Ascot.”

At his Eve Lodge base in Newmarket’s Hamilton Road, George hasn’t been a one-horse wonder and his placing of his two-year-olds has been nothing short of phenomenal.

At time of writing, Scott had seven individual juvenile winners who have 10 victories between them and there are several in the background waiting to unveil their talents.

There’s also plenty of older and three-year-old talent and George kindly discussed his team with Tony Elves of attheraces.com.
