FUTURE PROSPECT was highly tried in bumpers/hurdles and the form of her fourth in a Fairyhouse Grade 1 two starts ago reads well in the context of this contest. She is taken to have too much class for Emily Love, who fell on her first start over fences at Killarney but boasts solid hurdles form and is respected for a top yard. Pampar Lady could be the one for third.
LAKE CHAD's impressive C&D success didn't come as a huge surprise, judged on a couple of solid performances earlier in the year at Clonmel and Thurles, and the veteran is well worth sticking with as he seemed to really appreciate going back up in trip. Aclass was denied narrowly here a day earlier and commands plenty of attention, as does Drop A Threat and Dinoland.
CULLENWAINE finished an encouraging second at Limerick last week and that makes it two solid efforts in defeat on the spin. He should be bang there once more and might be able to strike this time. A decent case can also be made for My Good Pal, who represents a powerful yard and just bumped into one at Downpatrick most recently. Patrick Street may reward each-way support.
Willie Mullins' yard has won two of the last three renewals and Paul Townend stays loyal to KARMA D'AIRY, despite last year's disappointing stable debut at Clonmel. A 250,000 euros purchase on the back of a second over hurdles at Auteuil, she's been given plenty of time to recover and is preferred to stablemate Drombane. Cork runner-up Le Roi Du Livet could prove a threat, while Seven Towers is worth a second look on his hurdling debut.
Blue Moon Boy finished second at Sligo on his handicap debut over hurdles. He looks potentially well treated on that evidence, but it could pay to stick with THEANNIVERSARY MAN. The latter scored over this trip at Thurles before going in again over 2m4f at Cork and James Barcoe's charge remains of interest, despite an 8lb rise. Las Brisas Boy posted a better effort at Punchestown last time and could prove pick of the remainder.
Thiscouldbetheone has failed to bother the judge after four starts but he steps up in distance and as a son of Court Cave, there is hope that longer a trip may see him in a far better light. HEADCORN has won two point-to-points and although he has so far failed to make his mark over fences, the switch to hurdles could reinvigorate the nine-year-old. The Ducks Walk, Tolka Row and Lady Cosmo have pieces of form that would give them some say.
Gortnaclea Castle could go well having finished second in two of her three bumpers, including last time out at Wexford. Willie Mullins is a master of these contests and has won four of the last seven renewals, and he runs COTSWOLD BLUE, an unraced daughter of Authorized related to two winners. If she is as good as her pedigree, the six-year-old could make a winning start to her career. Isabella Johnson could finish third once more after filling that spot at Ballinrobe, with Riverwoods another to consider.
Progressive hurdler Emily Love may have placed if she didn't fall late on her first start over fences and that sets the standard on chase form. However, FUTURE PROSPECT was highly tried over hurdles and bumpers before quickly being switched to chasing here so he could be a useful recruit. Her Grade 1 hurdle form has been boosted and she should have more to offer in this discipline so is a solid selection here. Disco Dancer placed at Listed level over hurdles and will be suited by 2m on quick ground on her chase debut so can also make her presence felt.
Course specialist Lake Chad bounced back to form with an easy win here last time under a fine ride and remains very well treated on his best form so is likely to prove popular. However DINOLAND also looks well handicapped after registering a first chase victory last time in decisive fashion. Conditions will be in his favour once again and he has proven competitive off higher marks over fences. He is chosen to follow up with Miss Lia likely to fare best of the rest. The consistent hurdler is forgiven her latest run where she went too fast and she remains unexposed in this sphere.
MY GOOD PAL has been steadily progressing since returning to chasing and remains relatively unexposed in this sphere. He came a long way clear with a well handicapped rival last time and is expected to go a place better here on favourable drying ground. Menas Miracle is another who hasn't had many tries in this discipline but she looks well treated on her most recent chase run. She can leave her hurdles reappearance behind and throw down the biggest challenge ahead of progressive dual purpose performer Patrick Street. That rival looks on a lenient mark for his chase debut but has his stamina to prove.
KARMA D'AIRY may ideally want a bit further than this in time but she could be tough to catch if ridden positively at this tight track. She showed a high level of form in France and though she was turned over at short odds on her stable debut that form has since been franked at Graded level. Le Roi Du Livet sets the standard on ratings after finishing runner up in a good novice last time. He can chase the selection home ahead of Seven Towers who proved consistent in bumpers and should have more to offer over hurdles.
TOPOTHELANE has been steadily progressing over hurdles and gained a deserved first victory last time comfortably defeating an in form rival. He should have much more to offer under rules judged on his point win so gets the verdict ahead of the unexposed Blue Moon Boy who went close on his handicap debut last time. The multiple Flat winner looks to have plenty of mileage in his mark so can gain a place alongside Las Brisas Boy who bounced back to form in a stronger contest last time.
The ground may be on the quick side for FABHCUN but his debut form sets a clear standard and he may be capable of better for a top stable. In first time cheekpieces he is chosen to defeat point winner Nells Princess who proved her stamina when midfield on her hurdle debut. Thiscouldbetheone shaped well first time out and likely needed the outing last time. He should also be on the premises.
Gortnaclea Castle sets the standard on form and will be suited by the sound surface so holds obvious claims. However newcomer COTSWOLD BLUE makes plenty of appeal on paper and may be able to make a winning debut for a top stable. She is a half sister to a recent winner for the same connections and her half brother was a winner this week over fences. C'Est Elle was a touch disappointing last time but showed promise in points and on her hurdles debut so can also play a part.
