Pontefract - Mon 8 Jun 2026
KOMORKIS hasn't been disgraced on a couple of occasions this season and a 2lb drop for her recent fourth at Carlisle might be enough to see her back in the winner's enclosure. Thornaby Pearl looks sure to force the pace and is expected to be competitive, while Forever Noah went close at Southwell last time and he appeals most of the remainder.
Pearl Grace has an excellent pedigree, being out of a Yorkshire Oaks winner, but a wide draw in stall 10 tempers enthusiasm. With that in mind, the vote goes to COUSIN RACHEL. The daughter of Postponed comes from a decent family and may well be up to making a winning start to her racing career. Others to consider include Consultation and Black Cuillin.
ANALOGICAL has returned in excellent form this campaign, with a brace of victories at Newcastle and Catterick backed up with a string of consistent efforts. The son of Ulysses went up 2lb for his latest victory and he doesn't appear to have reached his ceiling yet. Something benefited from cheekpieces being reapplied when scoring at Ripon last time and he commands plenty of respect, along with Say What You See.
It's hard to get away from the hat-trick seeking LARAVIE, who won comfortably at Catterick on her latest outing. Off just a 6lb higher rating, she is very much the one to beat. Lady Phoebe failed to supplement her course success when only fourth at Newcastle, but she isn't one to write off back at this venue. Zimmerman completes the shortlist.
SEVENTY was just touched off when attempting to complete a double at Windsor on his most recent start and goes off the same mark. This looks a winnable contest and he could make it two wins from his last three appearances. Shimmering Sands competes off a workable rating on his return to action and needs considering, while Princess Niyla is another to keep a close eye on.
Daytona Lady occupied the runner-up berth at Wolverhampton last week and should mount a bold bid from her plumb draw in stall one. C&D winner Fiscal Policy is another to watch, but it may pay to side with CALL ME BETTY. The daughter of Sands Of Mali regained the winning thread when making all at Carlisle last month and can follow up.
Forever Noah has been in solid form on the AW, finishing runner-up on three of his last four starts, but he's 0-3 on turf it's REIDH who appeals more. The selection has only ever raced over 7f-plus but he's lost his form and has been shaping with more speed. The drop to 5f for the first time, therefore, is an interesting move. He's worth chancing, although Komorkis has been showing more off an easing mark and is respected despite top weight.
Several appealing newcomers here but CONSULTATION showed promise on her Wolverhampton debut and appeals as the sort to improve a good deal now switching to turt for her respected stable. Cousin Rachel makes a fair bit of appeal on profile and could have a say on debut, while James Tate can get one ready and his Shaqra Diamond is one to take seriously first time up, especially if the market is positive about his chance.
A trappy race, both Analogical and Something made all when winning last time. It's unlikely either will get such an easy time of things this time, though, and SAY WHAT YOU SEE is taken to prove too strong for the pair. He's been nudged up 2lb but is still on a competitive mark and the stiff finish will suit him well. Raulin is very much respected also as a past course winner, twice scoring over 10f here last term.
Charlie Darling was on a roll until last time when finding the drop to 14f on turf against him. Back up in distance here, he could easily return to winning ways, but LADY PHOEBE appeals more. She was a course winner over 2m5f on her penultimate outing and just got done for a bit of speed down to 2m at Newcastle last time. Her mark still seems fair and this could set up well for her. Zimmerman is consistent and comes in as third choice with the trip no issue.
This can go to the top weight SEVENTY, who has proven most consistent since the turn of the year, winning twice and finishing a gallant second of three from this mark at Windsor last time. He can prove too strong for Princess Niyla, who ran well over this trip at Redcar last time time, and the veteran Lenny's Spirit who should be suited by the drop in trip.
Great had excuses at Ayr last time and could easily bounce back, but it's CALL ME BETTY who is fancied most at the head of the weights. She showed a good attitude to win last time, when dropped to this 6f trip, and has taken just a small rise. As 4yo she could still be improving. Daytona Lady has been in fine form on the AW and should again go well back on turf from the inside stall.
