Plumpton - Mon 16 Mar 2026
ESCORT'KHEOPS filled second place in a similar event to this at Southwell a month ago and the six-year-old sets the standard based on that performance. Viscountess Nelson was a winner between the flags and she was not disgraced when fourth in a Huntingdon bumper on her Rules debut in December. With that in mind, she could prove to be the main threat, ahead of Our Amigo and Lola De Magny.
KOOL KID returned to winning ways in a handicap hurdle at this venue three weeks ago and a 5lb rise for that success may not be enough to stop him from following up, despite the switch to fences. Park Annonciade was a close third at Ludlow when last seen and is likely to be in the mix once again, while Delpotro completes the shortlist.
RISK IT ALL has filled second place on two of his last three starts and this appears to be an ideal opportunity for the five-year-old to go one better. That said, Kill The Groove was a neck second over C&D two starts ago and she may benefit from the first-time application of cheekpieces. Kingston Bresil edges out My Lovely Horse to be best of the rest.
Although Al Sayah ended last year's campaign with a respectable fourth at Newton Abbot, the drop back in distance on her return to action may prove on the sharp side. With that in mind, this could be battled out between Ludlow fourth Dramatic Encore and LA MARQUISE, with preference for the latter. Jamie Snowden's mare arrives on the back of a fair third at Wetherby and has been dropped 1lb.
FERRET JEETER did little wrong when finishing second to a resurgent rival over timber here recently and he could take all of the beating if taking to fences. David Dennis has his stable in fine form at present and Huntingdon scorer Imperial Pride isn't taken lightly, while an improved performance from School For Scandal wouldn't be a surprise on his return to a sounder surface.
Having regained the winning thread at Taunton recently with something in hand, it's difficult to look beyond the unpenalised TARITINO. The six-year-old should take all of the beating if over those exertions, with this step up in distance unlikely to inconvenience him. Eliza Dolittle is no back number after last month's C&D victory and she can put up most resistance to the selection, ahead of Ghasham.
Having posted two solid runner-up efforts under Rules, Double The Dance is likely to give another good account. The five-year-old isn't easily dismissed, but SECRET DES LUNE edges the vote in receipt of 7lb. Ben Clarke's mare boasts a similar profile and her experience from a previous second at this venue could prove decisive. Newcomers Getmyfriend and Luna Marquesa command a betting check.
Escort'Kheops is solid and ran really well back in a maiden hurdle over this trip at Southwell last time. He should again go well but VISCOUNTESS NELSON looks open to significant progress after just two starts, being a former point winner who shaped promisingly in a Huntingdon bumper on rules debut. She should relish this longer trip now hurdling. Our Amigo has run to a fair level in two hurdles starts and could improve now upped in trip so he's third choice.
There's surely more to come from chasing debuant KOOL KID, who won in good style over hurdles here last time and retains significant potential now chasing. He was a runner-up on his only start in points, so comes from a chasing background. Park Annonciade ran well back chasing when third at Ludlow last time and he could go well if building on that, making him the danger, although course regular Alto Alto is on a competitive mark still and looks sure to go well once more.
This can go to RISK IT ALL, who has finished runner-up on two of his last three starts and still appeals as being competitively weighted. The ground is in his favour and this is a weak race. Kingston Bresil is solid enough for the level and can go well if straigh back from 240 days off, while Kill The Groove is capable of a good run in the new headgear combo. He was runner-up over C&D two starts back.
LA MARQUISE ran well on her first start after a wind op when third at Wetherby and might be up to winning this granted improvement, which is possible given that was also her first start in four months. Al Sayah can emerge as the danger if ready to roll back from a break although her mark is high enough now. A Tickatickatiming was too keen over further here last time and she could easily go well back down in trip - she finished a good second over C&D in February.
WEST ORCHARD can win this with a better round of jumping after finishing runner-up despite mistakes at Wincanton last time. He's been nudged up 2lb but is only just above his last winning mark. Ferret Jeeter is highly consistent over hurdles and could emerge as the danger on this first run over fences with his rider claiming a handy 7lb. Imperial Pride may have been flattered last time in a race that fell apart but the cheekpieces definitely worked well then and are retained.
This looks a good opportunity for TARITINO, who showed improved form to score on good ground at Taunton last week and gets in here without a penalty. He rates the one to beat although Eliza Dolittle goes particularly well at this course and was in winning form last time so is afforded maximum respect. Junior Des Mottes is in form himself and has run well in defeat of late since his winning run came to an end. He does need more from this mark, though.
This can go to DOUBLE THE DANCE, a point winner who finished a good second at Ascot on his debut under rules and performed to a similar level when runner-up at Fontwell next time. His yard has a good record here and he rates the most likely winner although Secret Des Lune has done little wrong in two starts and obviously gets weight being a mare. Luna Marquesa is most interesting of the newcomers being related to winners, including one in bumpers. Her yard is quite capable at readying one.
