Kilbeggan - Fri 15 May 2026
TRY THEM should be up to winning a moderate-looking contest. The Dandy Man gelding ran a solid race when fifth in a stronger event at Bellewstown last month and a similar effort may be enough to see him collecting, with an official rating of 109 setting the standard. Poet's Duke has shaped with promise on his two outings to date and may prove the danger. He is entitled to improve a bit from his hurdling debut at Wexford 35 days ago. Rosie's Wings showed some ability on his three outings last term and is another to note on his stable bow for Ross O'Sullivan.
FORT RANDALL went up a stone for his easy success here three weeks ago and can bag a follow-up win despite that hike. The Noel Kelly-trained gelding landed a significant gamble on his return from an absence then, on only his second start for the yard, and may still have a bit up his sleeve. Dairy Force has been runner-up a couple of times since joining Gordon Elliott and rates as the main danger off his current mark. Malbay Madness was third behind easy winner Chanceawetmorning on his return here three weeks ago and could reach the frame again.
Philip Rothwell has a couple of runners with point-to-point form and Darragh O'Keeffe is an eye-catching booking for BACKINBUSINESS. This Saddex gelding was third-placed favourite at Ballycrystal last December. His new stablemate Scotty Joe won between the flags at Ballyvodock in February and that form has worked out well, with the runner-up subsequently scoring twice. Money for the Paul Nolan-trained newcomer Look Sport would be noteworthy.
MORDOR has slipped to an attractive mark since last seen over hurdles. The Roaring Lion gelding hasn't run over timber since finishing eighth in the Martin Pipe at Cheltenham in 2025. He has been kept to the level since and was a winner on his return 46 days ago at Navan, before having a spin in a charity race at Punchestown. Zam Bobbler ran a nice race in a competitive event at Fairyhouse on his handicap debut last month and is interesting taking another jump up in trip. The consistent Ceanndana is another to consider on his seasonal debut.
SHELLRUNFORBRIGGS sneaks into this having gone up to a mark of 110 over timber after her win at Limerick last month. The Harzand mare was a good winner then and remains unexposed. She's had two runs over fences in stronger races, with her runner-up effort behind the smart Karia Des Blaises at Thurles in mid-February the highlight. In The Trenches has plenty of chase experience and should be thereabouts reverting to novice company. Drop A Threat has been disappointing but may improve a bit from his chase debut at Tramore.
PARK THAT ran well on his most recent start in a competitive event at Navan in March and should be up to landing a race of this standard off his current mark. He chased home Moudan off a pound lower then and may be able to confirm form with fellow JP McManus-owned gelding Three In A Row, who was back in fourth that day. Torquay Road ran a big race on his first start in handicap company over fences at Tramore and he's another that has to be on the shortlist. The No Risk At All gelding lost out by a neck and a return to this trip may help.
WORLD AS ONE was turned over at a short price on his debut at Clonmel early last month and can go one place better now. The Waldgeist gelding chased home impressive winner High Kick Kev and, with that run under his belt, he could prove hard to beat. Jack Owen Jack was also runner-up on his opening bid, chasing home Minella Emperor in Cork last October, and looks an obvious danger. Returning Officer finished mid-division in a strong Navan bumper on his debut in February 2025, so he has a lengthy absence to overcome.
TRY THEM was a touch disappointing last time when too keen but his strong winter form sets the standard in this line up and he is chosen to shed his maiden tag. He's proven versatile ground wise and can defeat Poet's Duke who built on his bumper promise when midfield over further in a stronger contest than this first time out over hurdles. Fabhcun is yet to build on a promising debut but the drop in trip should suit and he isn't ruled out either for his top stable.
BHEAN SAIBHRE was a maiden winner when last seen in this sphere and is potentially thrown in on that returned to handicaps. She arrives fit from the Flat where she has been in decent form and she has proven herself versatile ground wise so is the obvious choice here. Kasper Hauser matched his Graded form when narrowly denied in a maiden last time where he kicked on too soon. He is another who looks well treated back in a handicap and can throw down the main challenge. At a bigger price Shinnhill is of some minor interest. He is on a dangerous mark based on his form prior to a lay off and he caught the eye on his reappearance under tender handling where he was badly hampered by a faller.
The consistent SPRINGHILL WARRIOR can make amends for a defeat at short odds last time. His previous runner up effort has been boosted at Grade 1 level by the winner so he sets a clear standard and should appreciate the step up in trip. Casual Water is yet to show much but top connections persist so he could prove a big danger but the main threat will be Joe Cool if he gets a run. He showed a useful level of form on the Flat at up to 14f placing on 3 of his 4 starts and should make an impact over hurdles.
The class angle in the race is Mordor who has proven consistent in both codes. He arrives fit from the flat and is respected down in class but he does have some major stamina concerns having failed to get home over 3m on his previous attempt. Instead it might be worth taking a chance with FACEMAN who should be fit from a recent chase run and looks well treated on his previous attempt over hurdles at Listed level. The course winner is chosen ahead of Ceanndana who has proven progressive over hurdles and fences but may just need this after a break.
SHELLRUNFORBRIGGS will be tough to beat here. She sets a clear standard on her runner up effort at Listed level on her last chase run and arrives on the back of a cosy hurdles victory last time with the longer trip no issue. Black Soul and Warriors Wood both came down in the same race when thereabouts last time. Both may have gained a place with the former likely to have finished ahead of the latter. The pair can fill the places here but with a first run in a year under his belt Andrew McNamara's gelding may be able to reverse the form.
LITTLEFOOT was left with too much to do after a series of errors last time but his opening mark looks lenient judged on his debut win and he could now progress back on favourable spring ground. All of his best hurdles form came on a sound surface and he is chosen to defeat the steadily progressive Park That who was just out-battled late last time. This sharper track should help over the longer trip and he has mileage in his mark judged on his hurdles form. Milan Forth also looks fairly treated on what he achieved in hunter chases and his last run over fences is worth marking up as he challenged too soon. If ridden slightly more conservatively he can pose a threat while all of the reserves would be interesting if getting a run.
WORLD AS ONE was turned over at short odds first time out but he still ran a race full of promise and is taken to build on that here for a first victory. The slight drop in trip should suit and he is chosen above Tea Biscuit who ran well in a hurdles on his only start to date. The form of that race has been boosted since so he should make an impact in this discipline. Jack Owen Jack ran well on his bumper debut and should come on for that experience. He should also be thereabouts at the finish.
