Verdict

WHISKEY GALORE took a decent step forward when runner-up on his nursery bow at Lingfield three weeks ago and Michael Bell's gelding, who went up 2lb for that effort, makes plenty of appeal in his bid to go one better. Ariane Sky has to enter calculations after her third at Beverley, while Fortunate and Wild Orchid could fight it out for the minor honours.

Plenty to consider here, ARIANE SKY has already proven herself in handicaps, winning on her debut at Ffos Las before finishing third at Beverley, and the step up to 8f here could suit well. She has Rossa Ryan in the saddle back from a short break. Fortunate was too keen on her handicap debut but has a bigger effort in her if settling over this longer trip. The danger, though, is Whiskey Galore, who came home well for second place on his handicap debut at Lingfield. That represented improved form and he's open to further progress.
