Wolverhampton - Tue 28 Oct 2025
UNDER CURFEW made up some good late ground to finish fifth over C&D last time out. Off a 1lb lower mark, he could be primed to gain a first win since being successful here in February. Now in the hands of James Owen, Von Krolock should be monitored for market support and he can have a say, along with Victors Dream, who has dropped back to a mark 4lb lower than his last success.
Runner-up on two of her last three starts here since joining the Patrick Morris yard, PEREGRINE FALCON narrowly sets the standard on form and she can get off the mark with Billy Loughnane retaining the ride. Placed on each of his last two outings over further, Hostility may enjoy dropping back in trip, while Coronado King is another to consider on his first run for new connections.
This looks like the ideal circumstance for MARIS ANGEL to have another go at 6f, having scored on her last two starts here, including most recently, for which she has been raised 2lb. Not beaten far in her attempt to double up at Southwell earlier in the month, After Love is a leading contender, along with Merapi, who is best judged on her penultimate runner-up effort at Salisbury.
MOIRA EXPRESS was beaten only a neck in third over the minimum trip here on her handicap debut, having turned for home in last place. This return to 6f augurs well for Roger Varian's filly on that evidence and she gets the vote in an open sprint. Too Darn Good comes into the reckoning on his recent third at Kempton, while both Nifty and Quantum Power drop in class with a shout.
Saratoga Gold finished a creditable second burdened with top weight at Newcastle and is not out of this off an unchanged mark. Simiyann is not easily ruled out either with his yard in such good form, but the three-year-old MISSION POSSIBLE has the most scope for improvement. The runner-up over 1m6f at Southwell on only her second start in a handicap, she will likely prove a more potent force over this longer distance and is taken to get off the mark.
Tryst merits serious consideration after going close at Newmarket and will be hard to keep out of the finish. Saying that, SUMMER IN PARIS also arrives with every chance having shown plenty of ability when fourth over 7f at the same track on her introduction. This additional furlong looks sure to bring improvement and James Owen's daughter of Wootton Bassett is taken to edge affairs. Carnival Queen is related to three winners and is a newcomer to note.
CAPTAIN PARMA got off the mark over 7f at Southwell earlier in the month and the unexposed three-year-old remains open to improvement. With that in mind, he is taken to defy a 5lb rise. Novak also scored on his most recent outing and could prove to be the main threat to the selection, although the recent C&D second He's A Gentleman should not be underestimated.
AGE OF TIME bounced back to form when a close second over 1m3f at Kempton last month and the first-time application of cheekpieces can help the son of Dubawi provide his supporters with some compensation here. A recent third over C&D suggests that Fighting Queen could play a big role once again, while Knight Of Magic edges out Have You A Minute to be best of the rest.
James Owen has a good record with his new recruits especially on the flat and he could improve on that again with VON KROLOCK. He went too fast and failed to stay 7f last time but is well treated on his best form over 6f in the summer in Ireland. He can defeat Under Curfew who is a touch erratic but well treated. He was given too much to do when midfield last time but can do better if ridden more positively. Flicka's Girl was in fine form until her latest run and could bounce back for a place.
HOSTILITY showed a high class level of form in Ireland and has been running into form for his new yard. He sets a clear standard and could be tough to catch if ridden positively down in trip. Coronado King has been improving for a top yard and his pedigree suggests this drop in trip won't be an issue. He can follow the selection home ahead of the experienced and generally consistent Peregrine Falcon.
AFTER LOVE has been thriving for her new yard and remains well treated on her old Irish form so is fancied to defy top weight here. All of her best form has come on the AW and she can continue that at the expense of Rye who has proven inconsistent but capable off similar marks. Merapi set the race up for a closer over a stretching 7f last time but was in good form previously so also rates a threat down in trip.
George Boughey holds a strong hand here. American Flight is likely to prove popular under a penalty after quickening clear impressively last time in a retained tongue tie. However it is stablemate GREEN DAME who makes most appeal on her handicap bow. She comfortably surpassed her opening mark of 71 on her last couple of starts and has a further 5lb taken off by her jockey. Nifty is yet to match the form of her novice wins but her last effort is worth marking up considerably and she could build on that now stepped back up in trip so rates a big danger.
MISSION POSSIBLE returned to form when runner up last time and could now be ready to shed her maiden tag. She conceded first run when placed last time and has only been raised 1lb in the weights despite surpassing that revised mark on ratings on 4 of her last 5 runs. The consistent Simiyann looks the obvious danger while veteran Saratoga Gold isn't dismissed either off a much reduced mark having proved his stamina for 2m last time.
TRYST left her debut form behind when upped to 1m last time where she was only beaten by a useful rival. If matching that form and seeing out the longer trip here she can defeat Melody De Vega who sets the standard on ratings following her runner up effort here last time. She does have some slight stamina doubts over this longer trip but can fight for a place with Summer In Paris who flew home when the penny dropped first time out over what looked an inadequate 7f.
HE'S A GENTLEMAN returned to form when runner up over C&D last time and will be tough to beat if building on that. She's only been raised 1lb and his previous victory came off 2lb higher at this venue. Captain Parma was also a winner over 7f on the AW last time and remains unexposed so he looks the clear danger while veteran top weight Novak isn't ruled out either. He hasn't been one to rely on in recent times though.
AGE OF TIME bounced back to form last time when just outstayed late over 11f and looks dangerously well treated here. His sole previous win came here when he registered a rating 26lb higher than his current mark and the slight drop in trip should play to his strengths. Break Point is the obvious danger returning from hurdling with a top jockey booked. He is yet to fire in this sphere but has been thriving over jumps so could be on a generous mark. Have You A Minute was given too much to do last time but was a C&D winner previously so completes the list of dangers.
