Despite failing to justify favouritism, VALADERO wasn't disgraced when third over 6f at Yarmouth and he looks to have been found a good opportunity to shed his maiden tag. Course winner Port Hedland ran below-par when only fifth off a mark of 50 at Leicester on his most recent start, but will appreciate this easier assignment. Apple's Angel is another to keep a close eye on.
THE MONKEY KING progressed from his debut sixth to finish two places in front of Regalism when third at Doncaster on his latest outing and is likely to have more to offer. The son of Time Test might only need to find minimal improvement in order to get off the mark. Foscarini has shown ability in both of his appearances so far and is one to watch out for, while Cinq Coins warrants a market check on debut.
Gone Rogue struck here two starts ago and wasn't disgraced when fourth in a class 5 event at Sandown last time. He has to be taken seriously, but the one who appeals most is KONDRATIEV WAVE. The nine-year-old bounced back to form when filling the runner-up spot over this distance at Windsor last month and a similar effort might be good enough. Boubyan is another to note.
Bohemian Breeze continued his resurgence when completing a double over 1m2f here in June and he shouldn't have any issues reverting to this trip. However, a rise in class does demand more of the six-year-old and SARANGPUR looks more progressive. Richard Hughes' gelding has been triumphant on three of his four outings for current connections and makes more appeal at this level. Fellow last-time-out winner Nibras Gold completes the shortlist.
Having posted his best effort of the year when third over C&D in June, this could prove a suitable opportunity for FOINIX to regain the winning thread. The second subsequently scored at Yarmouth and this looks a weaker contest for the six-year-old. Although Dogged has been underwhelming on his last two defeats, a repeat of his previous close second at this venue would see him involved. Dream Of Ithaca is the pick of the remainder.
A 2lb rise for Silver Trumpet's latest victory at Epsom should see him remain competitive and there is every chance that this track will suit. However, NORTH VIEW returned to form when second to an improving sort at Yarmouth recently and Stuart Williams' inmate may prove to be slightly better treated. Fellow in-form rivals Serenity Dream and State Of Madness add further spice to the mix in an open contest.
RIVER WHARFE has run back into form on his last couple of starts making amends for his messy Windsor run at this venue yesterday. The multiple course winner is well treated on these terms and can continue his yard's good recent record at this meeting. Valadero was unlucky in a similar event to this last time so the seemingly exposed maiden looks the chief threat on favourable quick ground. Barnsnape Boy has disappointed on his last couple of starts but would have a chance if back to the level of his C&D win earlier in the summer.
THE MONKEY KING left his debut form behind when placing on his first try on turf last time. That form has been franked since and on similar fast ground here he should be tough to stop. Regalism was a couple of places behind the selection that day having missed the break and met trouble. Given that was his debut significant improvement can be expected and he should get much closer. Foscarini has shown minor promise on both starts so far and if handling the track he can do best of the rest.
BOUBYAN remains 2lb below his last winning mark but has been running back into form recently. His best recent efforts have come at 1m on fast ground including his latest placed effort which has been franked. Course specialist Kondratiev Wave has a better record over 7f but he ran well over 1m last time when runner up and gets to race off the same mark here. He can chase the selection home ahead of Winemaker who is well treated on his Irish form and should come on for his stable debut. He does need to prove his stamina for 1m though.
Sarangpur is likely to prove popular having won 3 of his last 4. However he's gone up another 4lb and faces his toughest task by some distance. Consistent dual purpose performer Nibras Gold showed a willing attitude when making a winning Flat return and is only 1lb higher here with an easy lead possible. He holds obvious claims but it may pay to side with TAI HANG PEGASUS at a bigger price. He remains a maiden but he has proven his stamina for 12f on his last couple of starts and the form of both of those races has been franked. The handicapper has generously dropped him by a further pound so he looks primed for this.
GEARING'S POINT won a similar event over C&D on fast ground on her penultimate start and held her form in defeat next time. That run has been boosted since so she looks the solid option here. Veteran Dogged is tough to predict nowadays but did finish runner up here over 10f in this headgear earlier in the summer. If back to that level of form he can pose the biggest challenge ahead of course specialist Foinix who won this in 2024.
NORTH VIEW remains 3lb below his last winning mark despite bouncing back to form when runner up last time. He split a pair on in form rivals that day and will be suited by 7f on fast ground once again. Silver Trumpet has shown his best form at similar tracks and has only gone up 2lb for his last time out win. He is feared along with State Of Madness who is on his last winning mark and ran well over C&D last time.
