He is a star and kept his form all year, but it is quite hard to find races for him as the handicapper isn’t very forgiving. He would rather carry a lot of weight against lesser opposition than getting weight off better horses these days. There is a seven-furlong race at Goodwood on Saturday which I think we might run in.

He won well at Windsor, and he is just like the girl with the curl when he is good he is very good and when he’s bad he’s horrid. You are not quite sure what you are going to get with him but I’m not sure I was running him over too short a trip and he’s better at a mile and a quarter. I put him in a race at Goodwood at the end of the week and we will have a look and see.

He won the Hungerford Stakes at Newbury very well and I turned him out quick and went to York but I think it was just too quick so we can just write off that performance. He will have a little freshen up and then we will think of where to go with him next. He is in the Prix de la Foret, and we will think about it, but he has to bounce back from a bad run before we can consider something like that.

He has been a star for us and ran three times and won three times including a hot nursery at York last week. You would even know you had him in the yard he is so quiet, and he doesn’t say much but just comes to life when he gets on the track. He is improving all the time and he’s not very big but he’s very tough. He could be anything and he is going to Tattersalls Ireland Sales Race at the Curragh on Sunday September 11, and he is entered in the Mill Reef Stakes at Newbury a week later. We will go to the Tattersalls Sales race and make a plan from there.

He was very good at the beginning of the year and when I ran him at Beverley, he didn’t run very well and scoped terrible. It was against very hot competition, and he couldn’t breathe so he stopped, and he lost his head a bit. We got him back and we put a hood on him, and he won at Brighton and still pulled hard. I ran him again at Chelmsford on Saturday in a hood and he settled really well. I think we have got him back where we want him, and we can just ride an ordinary race on him now.
