Verdict

The hat-trick seeking SALLAAL is hard to knock with his five wins from nine starts record, the latest in Listed class at Sandown where he saw off Persica by one and three-quarter lengths. That form was franked when the runner-up won at Newbury, and Roger Varian's charge is nicely treated at these weights. Sea Scout could surprise at a price on his return after being gelded, having placed at this level when last sighted, while Convergent arrives with plenty to prove after a pair of disappointing efforts.

SALLAAL showed a willing attitude when stepping up in class to win the Listed Gala Stakes at Sandown last time and, with his proven form at this trip and yard in good form, he looks ready for this Group 3 challenge on his hat-trick attempt. Nahraan remains lightly raced and shaped better than the bare result returning from a break in the Wolferton Stakes, and is still open to potentially further improevement. Danger Bay has been progressive and had circumstances against him at York last time, so he could be competitive now tackling this higher level.
