Verdict

The unexposed CLEMENTINES STAR has improved since she was stepped up to 7f and got off the mark at Thirsk on her most recent outing. A mark of 69 should be workable on her handicap bow, especially as she may have more progression left to come. Jackabi is an obvious threat just 2lb higher than when winning over C&D in June. The remainder have questions to answer, but Espona Bay and Sup Of Red are the pick of them.

CLEMENTINES STAR is a big, strong, workmanlike and likeable filly who won with some authority last time from a fair marker albeit in a three-runner affair. She looks nicely weighted for her handicap debut and should go well. Espona Bay was well backed last time and had been running well in handicaps but pulled too hard taken back and found little. She might bounce back here if ridden forwards as she is in the main. Jackabi is probably third best. He scored last time but holds his head in a very unconvincing manner. It suggests he's not putting everything in and should he decided to do so he could improve.
