Expert View Verdict

Verdict

Curran readily justified favouritism over 1m6f at Salisbury on his latest outing and has to be considered. However, this drop in trip is the slight concern and, with that in mind, DOUBLE RED gets the nod. Henry Candy's charge was victorious when last seen in this grade at Lingfield in April and may prove to be a cut above his rivals. Oasis Sunrise completes the shortlist.

Watch out for: Curran (2)

Plenty will get carried away with Curran's wide-margin win last time and he may go well, but it was over two furlongs further than this in a small field and out of kilter with all his form since his two-year-old days. It is worth taking a chance that that run was not all it seemed and siding with something that can be evaluated more accurately. Double Red is one of those but is not the most enthusiastic and a better option could be the OASIS SUNRISE who ran very creditably in a good race at Ascot last time and doesn't know how to run a bad race. Her mark is not the most generous but the chances are that she is one of the few that will run to it. Aravalli has a similar profile and is also worth consideration.
