Expert Analysis

Reporter: James Flaherty

The Group 2 for juvenile fillies over the minimum trip was won last year by subsequent 1000 Guineas heroine, True Love and went to Ballydoyle again in 2026. Victorious defied an unfavourable low draw in stall 5, despite missing the break, to win by a widening two lengths at the line. It was a performance of a filly with real potential, in a good time – the quickest since the 2014 renewal of this race.

VICTORIOUS produced a power-packed finish to surge past her rivals. She missed the break and was initially near the rear on the far side, before making ground stylishly from halfway on the near side of that smaller group. The eventual second and Wild Blossom got first run on her, but when the turbo kicked in from the furlong pole, she devoured the ground to make up those few lengths and go by late on. She had already won twice over six, but she isn’t short of speed as evidenced here.

SENORITA BONITA was poorly drawn herself in stall 10. She raced much closer to the pace and made her move from the two-furlong pole. She briefly went clear inside the final furlong before being reeled in by the winner. The pair were clear of the others on that side, with the next eight home all coming up the stands side. This was a fair run on her second appearance.

RUIVA won her race on the stands side, but that seemed the place to be. Wesley Ward’s filly led that group most of the way apart from being briefly joined in front, skipping clear a furlong out before they made up ground on her inside the final 100 yards. This stiff five seemed to find her out a little late on (won over 4.5 furlongs in America).

PERSHAADA raced near side and was prominent, tracking the keen going American raider, Shining Moment. She travelled well into the race and closed on Ruiva in the final furlong when asked for effort, getting within half a length of her at the line.

CROWNBREAKER took a sizable step forward from her ten-length defeat at the hands of Wild Blossom. She came from further back on the near side but got a nice run up the rail and stayed on well in the closing stages to finish closer than at any point during the race.

ALTA REGINA was short of experience having had just one start prior to this. Racing in midfield among the near side group, close to the stands rail, she took a while to respond for pressure but finished out her race well. She should stay further.

SHIMMERING SUN came from near the rear on the stands side, catching the eye as she made ground through the field. Her effort did flatten out a little inside the final 100 yards but she had done a lot of running to get into that position.

VELOZEE was held up in rear on the stands side, travelled well and was then switched towards the centre of the track. She kept on without ever really threatening.

ARMOR SUPREME made ground from mid-division in the penultimate furlong but faded in the closing stages, losing a few places among that bunch in the process.

WILD BLOSSOM managed third far side despite only finishing tenth overall. She led that group with two furlongs left but weakened in the final furlong.

MISS LIZZY had plenty of experience after four starts. She was last early but stayed on well in the final furlong up the favoured stands rail.

DRAZINDA raced close to the far rail in that group, especially in the closing stages and probably deserves to be marked up more for that.

CRYSTAL QUEEN shaped well enough on the far side, hitting the line hard. I’d say six furlongs is within her stamina capabilities.

FAST TRACK did plenty wrong as she missed the kick slightly and was then keen. She stayed on well enough considering.

BIG NEGOTIATOR raced mid-division near side (towards the centre) and made some headway before weakening in the final furlong.

KENTUCKY RAIN showed a lot of promise for four furlongs and was beside the winner at the furlong pole but got very tired in the final furlong.

PRINCESSE D’ORANGE was in touch near side but weakened badly in the final furlong.

HAVANA LIGHTNING was going okay when short of room inside the penultimate furlong but faded out of it soon after.

MORE CHAMPAGNE wasn’t helped by being carried right outside the furlong pole, but hadn’t much more left to give anyway.

LOVE A GIGGLE raced nearest the far rail and never got involved.

MAGIC EFFORT raced in the midfield of the near side group but faded as the race developed.

ENVISION led the far side group from her draw in stall 12 but weakened just inside the two-furlong pole.

LOVER GIRL chased the leaders far side, briefly challenging before dropping out from before the furlong marker.

SHINING MOMENT was prominent on the near side but struggled as soon as the race developed with two furlongs left to run.

NIEWIADOMA was midfield on the stands side and was outpaced before being hampered over a furlong out.

CELTIC DISPUTE struggled from an early stage in the far side group.

BINT ARCHANGE was prominent near side away from the rail having coming over from stall 13 and was beaten soon after halfway.
