Expert View Verdict

Verdict

Turty Tree isn't without his quirks, evidenced when hanging at Newmarket last time, and connections reach for first-time cheekpieces in the hope of ironing them out. He's sure to go close if they have the desired effect, but HUMPHREY gets the vote. The Pinatubo colt is related to a couple of smart stayers, notably Gregory, so it would come as no surprise were he more than good enough at the first time of asking. Upper East can chase the pair home.

Watch out for: Turty Tree (5)

TURTY TREE is in danger of becoming frustrating but he sets the standard on form here. He failed to stay 12f last time but this test will suit ideally and he is given a final chance in first time cheekpieces. Upper East has to prove his stamina which is a concern given his breeding but if building on his promising debut he should be on the premises. Newcomer Humphrey is closely related to a couple of classy horses who represented the same connections so is also respected on debut.
