Expert View Verdict

Verdict

Last year's Derby second LAZY GRIFF was far from disgraced when finishing third in the Henry II over C&D in May. That was his first appearance since his placed effort in the Irish Derby last June and he could return to winning ways with the benefit of that outing. Furthur failed to stay the trip in the Gold Cup a couple of weeks ago but is a player based on the best of his form. Cases can be made for all of the remainder, but Paradias is the pick of them.

LAZY GRIFF was a Group winner in France at 2 before proving himself competitive at the top level last year placing in the Derby at Epsom and in Ireland. He proved his stamina over C&D on his return from a long lay off last time and should confirm that form with his re-opposing rivals. Consistent handicapper Paradias was behind the selection last time where he also proved his stamina for 2m. He can fill the podium with Furthur who represents last year's winning stable and should appreciate the drop in trip having failed to stay in the Gold Cup last time.
