Verdict

This looks at the mercy of last year's winner DIAMOND RAIN. Placed at the highest level in North America subsequently, Charlie Appleby's mare kicked off this season with a creditable third in the Group 2 Middleton Stakes at York and should prove tough to beat on these terms. The progressive Dreamasar landed a Listed race at Haydock last month. She could prove a bigger threat than Sky Safari, who is penalised for winning the Winter Derby at Lingfield.

DIAMOND RAIN can repeat last year's success. She would go on to place at the top level in the US and Canada later last year while her reappearance run in a strong Middleton is worth forgiving. She can outclass her rivals with the chief threat being the progressive Dreamasar whose latest Listed win has taken a boost at the same level. Ashariba was a Listed winner herself last year and is entitled to come on for her reappearance in France. She can take the final place on the podium.
