Verdict

Very few can be ruled out in this maiden and Irish Oaks entrant ELMAKAYA gets a tentative vote. The daughter of Wootton Bassett shaped well on debut in a strong maiden at Leopardstown five weeks ago and should step forward. Solana Beach is a half-sister to several smart winners and was notably green when second to a highly-rated colt at Gowran. Guardian Of Realm was placed on all three all-weather starts last year, but wasn't progressive and was twice turned over at odds-on. By Too Darn Hot and making her debut, Mai Dahlia represents a yard in irrepressible form, while expensive yearling Rebel Wave is another newcomer to note.

ELMAKAYA shaped with plenty of promise when midfield on debut and with that form franked at Group level she is chosen to get off the mark here. Her dam was a debut winner for the same stable and her biggest danger on form looks to be Solana Beach. She finished runner up on her sole start to date but this step up in trip isn't guaranteed to suit judged on her breeding. The consistent Guardian Of Realm has an experience edge and is also respected on her return from a break.
