Expert Analysis
A race switched from Doncaster to here and then rescued from the cancelled programme 2 days earlier. It represents useful form, but not better than that, the incident at the first fence taking out the favourite and inconveniencing another of the major contenders. The overall time looks healthy (faster than recorded by First Flow carrying more weight in the next race) though the final 4f time of 52.94s translates to a 110.9% finishing speed and shows that pace was required.
JPR ONE (c148 here, 145 previously) left a slight blip behind him with a ready success, travelling and jumping well in second until taking a narrow advantage around halfway, joined again going to 3 out but getting on top after the next and ridden a couple of lengths to the good until merely pushed out near the end, possibly idling. He is one of the better 2m novice chasers trained in Britain if still some way behind the very best in Ireland.
MATATA (c147 here and previously) brought useful handicap form to the table and ran up to his best, leading and quite free, jumping badly left at the first and taking out the favourite then less markedly left at the seventh, headed at the eighth but still bang there until unable to match the winner from 2 out, continuing to run on to make things quite close. This is probably about his limit for now.
PEMBROKE (c140 here, 135+ previously) had walked over and finished alone on his previous 2 starts but seemed to run well, at least to the level he managed as a novice hurdler the season before, slightly hampered at the first but travelling OK tracking until outpaced going to 3 out. He is probably going to get an easy 20f (possibly struggled with the trip on soft at Cheltenham over hurdles).
MASTER CHEWY (c142 here, 148 previously) is best excused a slightly substandard run, badly hampered at the first and seeming to lack confidence until later in the race, by which time the principals had flown.
DJELO (c? here, 149 previously) was badly hampered and fell at the first.
