Verdict

ALJOON was far from disgraced on his racecourse bow before taking a step forward to fill the runner-up spot at Catterick. Jack Jones' gelding should have no issues switching to the all-weather and can use his experience to negate a wide draw. It would come as no surprise were Calendar Boy to improve on his debut effort, while newcomer Huwa Baree makes some appeal.

ALJOON looked moderate on debut over 6f but improved for the step up to 7f when beaten only a length at Catterick last time and, with further progress likely, he can go well again with a good chance to open his account third time out. Huwa Baree is an interesting newcomer on pedigree, being a Saxon Warrior colt and a half-brother to three winners, while his dam was also very smart. Advertise colt Brushstroke is another debutant to note with a useful pedigree and for an in-form yard, so is not ruled out.
