Expert Analysis
Quite a well-run race despite the small field (approximately 102% finishing speed) and probably solid enough form as a result, though these novices are useful rather than significantly better at this stage, Mighty Potter’s rating some way behind those of the last two winners of this contest, Appreciate It (155) and Abacadabras (157).
MIGHTY POTTER (h145 here, 142+ previously) continues to go the right way, predictably better suited by this than the far more tactical affair he encountered at Fairyhouse, tracking the pace (hampered/stumbled after the first), short of room 2 out and shaken up/switched but leading going to the last and ridden out. He may have a few quirks, carrying his head to one side and edging right late on, while some of his jumping was less than polished, but there is plenty of ability there.
THREE STRIPE LIFE (h143+ here, 132+ previously) emerges with plenty of credit, probably the best prospect in the field with this being just his second start over hurdles and fourth overall, held up in touch but making a mistake 2 out, at a crucial stage, losing his place somewhat then rallying strongly. There is better to come, not least at 20f.
FAROUT (h139 here and previously) ran creditably again under a patient ride, seeing out the trip fine ridden in such a manner and taking third near the finish.
GRANGEE (h131+ here, 111+ previously) had achieved little in winning a slowly run race at Fairyhouse and did much more here, shaping as if the experience will do her good, making good headway to dispute the lead 2 out until approaching the last, only to weaken.
ARCTIC WARRIOR (h136? here, 125 previously) would have run his best race had he not fallen at the last, always close up before that but headed approaching the last and weakening when he departed (can be rated just behind Grangee).
LARGY DEBUT (h0 here, 140? previously) had beaten Kilcruit on his hurdling debut at Cork, though that form is not easy to weigh up, but ran abysmally here and was later reported to have broken a blood vessel, jumping/hanging right from an early stage and headed/soon beaten going to 2 out.
