This Group 3 contest for juveniles had an open look to it beforehand, but Moonrise completely dominated proceedings in the race itself. She made all, setting a steady pace to halfway after the initial burst to get to the front and then quickened off the front in the home straight which made it difficult for those in behind. At the line she had three and three-quarter lengths to spare over her nearest rival, Shimmering Sun.
controlled this race from the outset. She was a touch keen early on, but she only had to go as quick as her rider wanted and steadied the pace after the opening furlong. Given the early tempo was modest, she got away from the field when she injected some pace in the straight and put the race to bed inside the furlong pole. It was impressive as she took another notable step forward.
tracked the eventual winner early and pretty much maintained that position throughout. She had no answer to the winner though when she quickened in the straight, despite holding off the closers to finish second.
was slowly away and had a lot to do thereafter, particularly given how the race developed. He deserves to be marked up slightly as he was last at the two-furlong marker before finishing his race out well. His breeding isn’t encouraging regarding stamina, but his runs suggest seven furlongs might be worth a try.
also stayed on from off the pace although not quite as obviously as Social Symbol. She was ridden quite early and appeared to find this test on the sharp side, but she did keep going all the way to the line.
was a touch disappointing as the 9/4 favourite, despite travelling well. His finishing effort was rather weak, and he lost a couple of places inside the final furlong having been in a good position to challenge.
was very keen through the middle of this contest as the field rounded the turn for home, possibly a result of being restrained more than her last two starts. She weakened inside the final two furlongs.
has been very busy and may be starting to feel the effects of it now as he never really got involved here.
was wide on the track and keen without much cover. She weakened quickly inside the two-furlong marker.
