Galilean Quality won at Ascot prior to finishing runner-up in the Melrose and looks sure to have a say in proceedings on the strength of that form. Things failed to go to plan for Mythical Bay in that York contest, having looked highly progressive before it, and he could be in the mix but a chance is taken on PIERRE GROSSE. The son of Palace Pier was narrowly beaten in the Ulster Derby when last seen on soft ground and another bold bid is anticipated from Jessica Harrington's charge.
Karl Burke holds a strong hand here with GALILEAN QUALITY and Asia Force. The latter was an easy winner under an aggressive when upped to this trip last time but this is much tougher and he does need to prove his effectiveness on a testing surface. It is notable that Clifford Lee sticks with the top weight after his runner up effort in the Melrose where he conceded first run having met trouble. He remains ahead of his mark despite a further 5lb rise and is a soft ground winner so should handle conditions. He is the selection but at a bigger price Pierre Grosse is picked to complete the tricast. He was unsuited by the way the race developed in the Shergar Cup last time but his Irish form has worked out well making the maiden look on a workable mark. He is proven in testing conditions and has long shaped like a stayer so is a likely improver now stepping up in trip.
