Verdict

The Gosdens landed this prize last year with a novice winner and SUPERIOR CHOICE may also prove up to this level. The latter won a maiden prior to defying a penalty in novice company over 1m2f at Newmarket and beat subsequent winners on both occasions. Entered in next month's Great Voltigeur, the son of Dubawi is taken to edge out Chester Vase third Mr Colonel and the Lingfield Oaks Trial runner-up Prizeland.

Prizeland is coming off an improved fifth in the Group 2 Italian Oaks last time and her earlier Listed effort entitles her to respect also, but MR COLONEL looks the pick judged on his Chester Vase third behind subsequent Irish Derby winner Benvenuto Cellini. He didn't have things go his way in the Queen's Vase next time but this is easier and he can see off the progressive Superior Choice, who is up in grade following maiden and novice wins. He's bred to stay this longer trip.
