Verdict

Both La Tosca and Star Of Emerald make their handicap debuts and will need to be monitored in the betting. Connections of Gemical reach for a first-time visor in the hope of bringing out improvement, but FAVOURITE FRIEND is the one to side with. The son of Sea The Moon showed more when fourth over 1m2f at Bath and takes a step back up in trip in first-time blinkers, which could work the oracle.

Charlie Johnston's filly LA TOSCA makes a fair bit of appeal on handicap debut despite top weight. She's run to a similar level on all three starts and has the pedigree that suggests she'll improve yet. Favourite Friend ran to form tried in cheekpieces last time and the step up in trip tried in blinkers could suit. He's the danger, although Gemical is considered also if building on her latest Thirsk effort.
