Greyville - Sat 4 Jul 2026

1 10:45 AM - Greentube Class 4

Hollywoodbets Durban July Day has arrived - Bet with TAB, MASSIVE POOLS are expected, and Jackpot 1 starts in Race 1. SOMMERSTERN has solid form and could follow up on his fluent local debut win but tries the Polytrack from a wide gate. MAGMA MAGIC has matured and after reeling off two in a row could stretch them out again even if having not yet won on the surface. TOWN CRIER confirmed support with a good win and has much in his favour again. PLACE OF PRACTICE has room for improvement and is a dark horse. IBUTHO and UNITED FRONT should be there. If reserve HOODIA gets in, watch out.

2 11:25 AM - Tote B Stakes

The first of two BiPots - get your bets on timeously. PLEASE BE TRUE has very good Western Cape form and has shown versatility. He could get back to winning ways. ROLLO THE VIKING won on this day last year. He has beaten Mocha Blend on the Poly and must be respected from a decent draw. BRUH was third in the WSB Sledgehammer last time and now gelded cannot be discounted. Strong frontrunners SUNDANCE KID, CAPSAICIN and GRAND OCCASION all can fight for prizes. OPEN HIGHWAY has run well on the surface and should be a threat from the best of the draws.

3 12:05 PM - Magical Zulu Kingdom 2200 (Grade 3) (Handicap)

Good field for the July Consolation. OTTO LUYKEN is back to defend his 2025 win and ran a smart race in the Pocket Power Stakes last time so could just do it. He is closely matched with MAGIC VERSE who has been a bit unlucky not to get the better of him. The pair could fight it out. IMILENZEYOKUDUDUMA had LA PULGA behind him in the Cup Trial and then turned in a fine effort in the Grade 3 Winter Stakes last time. That kind of form could see him fight for honours. If TINTIN goes the distance he could have a big say from gate No 2. He looks the sensible type. More in it.

4 12:40 PM - Durban Gold Vase (Grade 3)

The P6 pool is likely to reach R15 million so don't miss out! The Gold Vase looks tough and pace will play a big part. POETS WARRIOR is dangerous when racing up front and could prefer the track. SHOOT THE RAPIDS can also do well from near the front and has proven stamina. But if there is a good pace on a horse such as AHEAD OF THE FACTS could emerge at the right time. He is closely matched with HOLDING THUMBS who is looking to go one better after finishing runner-up in 2025. MASTER REDOUTE can't be ignored.

5 1:20 PM - Amusnet Golden Slipper (Grade 2) (2yo Fillies)

ALICE B TOKLAS showed maturity beyond her years winning the Devon Air Stakes over the track and trip. It was her first run around a turn. Similarly inexperienced, ROYAL TIARA was only 1.80 lengths behind but having secured a plum gate could prove a bigger threat this time. TUDOR ROSE could be anything after a promising debut effort. PALACE OF ARVERNIA and OCEAN MISTRESS ran respectable races in the Grade 2 Allan Robertson and show plenty ability. The pair need to overcome wide draws to go close. VOLCANIC HEAT has sprinted well but could be looking for this trip.

6 2:00 PM - Omoda Golden Horseshoe (Grade 2) (2yo)

Up-and-coming young colts and a filly clash in the Grade 2 over 1400m. Querari colt VIBE CHECK is a natural, winning his last two over the distance. This is a tough contest as he meets similarly talented individuals but must have every chance from gate No 1. THE CULLINAN should relish the trip and take it to the wire having drawn alongside. PRAYERSANDPROMISES was a dominant winner at Turffontein but a wide draw could make things tough. BISOU BISOU impressed on debut and rates the dark horse. KAZENOYONI and filly SECRETARY BIRD aren't out of it either.

7 3:00 PM - Hollywoodbets Durban July (Grade 1)

Who will win the R10M spectacle? And R10M is expected for the Mega Quartet Pool - get on! WISH LIST is classy, she won the Cape Derby beating the best around and is unbeaten at this venue. NOTE TO SELF is another capable three-year-old but needs things to go his way. It could be the reboot of the Derby where WISH LIST beat NOTE TO SELF but at the revised weights it could be a humdinger this time. It doesn't end there. LEGAL COUNSEL and GLADATORIAN are packed with class and there is a big weight spread. CHOISAANADA gets draw 4-he can dictate! Take your pick, many can get into the money!

8 4:00 PM - Ridgemont Garden Province Stakes (Grade 1) (Fillies And Mares)

Champion DOUBLE GRAND SLAM has had the same prep as when she beat MON PETIT CHERIE last year. In fact, she looked a bit unlucky not to win the SA Fillies Sprint but can get back to the winner's enclosure. MON PETIT CHERIE is also back for the challenge. She is a winner of the 2025 SA Fillies Guineas at this venue but was held off for the win in her last race by 2026 SA Fillies Guineas runner up QUICKSTEPGAL. The latter was second to July fancy Wish List and it could get close again. KEUKENHOF rates the dark horse. RAINBOW LORIKEET is very capable.

9 4:40 PM - Post Merchants (Grade 3)

The start of Jackpot 3. BUFFALO STORM CODY won the Grade 1 Mercury Sprint from this gate last season. He is very good coming off a rest and can assert his authority. TENANGO gave signs he could be back to best (7th) in the ultra-competitive Golden Horse Sprint. He has more to come. KAALVOET was eye catching (4th) in the above-mentioned race and has drawn ideally in gate No 1 while the pair that finished ahead of him, CAFE CULTURE (2nd) and ONE EYE ON VEGAS (3rd), have drawn wide and have their work cut out. DAVE THE KING, CATS PAJAMAS and SPEEDMAN could be up to the task.

10 5:20 PM - Premier Gateway International Handicap (Listed)

Competitive Listed handicap. BETTER MAN tried coming from off the pace and made improvement. He can step up on his KZN Guineas run at this track and must have a chance of turning the form around with MOHAVE PRINCE who beat him in his last start. MOHAVE PRINCE has won four of his last five and is getting better as he matures. He has drawn well again. GREEN GATEWAY could be anything tried over ground. He was a gallant winner with a big weight last time. IMPOSING and PAY THE PALACE (wide draw) could be dangerous at best. It doesn't end there.

11 6:00 PM - Race Coast Middle Stakes (F & M)

Plenty fillies and mares with good ability. SERENGETTI SUN is lightly raced but retains ability. She ran well from a wide draw and has now drawn well on her Poly debut. Highveld-based fillies ANCHORAGE and CAPTAIN SELVIE bring solid form into the region and could fight it out if taking to the surface. But the horse to catch with a light weight again may be LOCK AND KEY who came back to best showing amazing speed to beat males last time. WARM RECEPTION has shown high class potential back home and must be respected. More in it.

12 6:40 PM - Metro Fm - Class 4 (F & M)

Competitive fillies and mares race and TABs exotics are worth a go. CLAIR DE LUNE sets the standard on current form. She has been knocking hard in the Western Cape from wide draws. She has the pace to suit. SCARLET STARLET can only improve after dropping in distance last time. She must have more to come. It could get close between DECEMBER DAWN and fast-finishing THOUGHT CONTROL but both have to negotiate wide draws. SIBERIAN WINTER won a nice race last time but POURSOMESUGARONME should be right on top of her. WEDDING VOW and IZIBULO both now get a run and must be respected.
