Sue Smith Stable Tour

Embryonic chasers abound in Sue Smith's yard, but many a nice hurdle race are picked up on the way and she marks our card from her talented team.

After suffering a lengthy spell without a winner it has been business as usual for Sue Smith from her long established base in High Eldwick, West Yorkshire and three winners from 14 runners in the past fortnight is a fair indication that everything is back on course.

Sue is currently on the 16 winner mark for the season but more importantly has notched up a nice bit of silverware with Vintage Clouds landing the Grade 2 Peter Marsh Chase at Haydock last month and the year starting off in perfect fashion when Midnight Shadow continue on the upgrade when landing the Grade 2 Dipper Novices’ Chase at Cheltenham.

All augurs well for the Grand National winning trainer as she looks to add to the success of Auroras Encore in 2013 with the Trevor Hemming’s owned Vintage Cloud whilst Midnight Shadow, runner-up in the Grade 1 Scilly Isles Novice Chase last Saturday, appears have booked his place in the Marsh Chase at Cheltenham in March.

With the horses back in the collecting queue it was a good time for Tony Elves of ATR to call on Sue for her views on her team.
