Expert Analysis
One of the premier sprints of the European season but its biggest field since 2016 was a reflection of the weakness of this division and the potential to nab some G1 prestige rather than any strength in depth, and Asfoora’s win was with the lowest rating since 111-rated Jwala in 2013. Despite quite quick conditions by this stage, her time of 57.38s was the joint-slowest since 2017, though a gusting wind may have had something to do with that.
A final 2f of 23.10s (99.4% finishing speed) confirms that the race was well-run. The runners came down the centre, although spread quite widely, and there did not seem to be a track bias.
ASFOORA (114 here and previously) returned to her best after a trio of ordinary efforts, possibly building her way back to peak fitness, and is a bit too good for what is the second tier of European sprinting right now, tracking the pace, making an effort 2f out and leading approaching the final 1f, running on well for a ready success. 5f is her trip and she ought to continue to go well if persevered with in this part of the world.
AIN’T NOBODY (112 here, 103 previously) finally delivered what he had occasionally threatened, wearing cheekpieces for the first time and returned to 5f, in rear if not far away and running on well after halfway to get 2nd in the final stride. He has been inconsistent even allowing for the likelihood that this, rather than 6f, is his trip.
FROST AT DAWN (108 here, 109 previously) ran well to get placed in her 2nd G1, never far away and briefly disputing the lead over 1f out.
NIGHT RAIDER (107 here, 102 previously) coped well with the fast 5f, predictably enough, in running his best race of the year, making most.
RUMSTAR (106 here, 113 previously) ran respectably, in mid-field and nearest at the finish at this even faster 5f.
JM JUNGLE (105 here, 110 previously) ran respectably with no excuses, close up until approaching the final 1f.
SAYIDAH DARIYAN (97+ here, 109 previously) was slowly into her stride and in rear for a long way at such a fast 5f, making some late gains and best forgiving this.
MGHEERA (96 here, 108 previously) never figured after a typically slow start.
CELANDINE (94 here, 102 previously) got going too late at this fast 5f.
SHE’S QUALITY (93 here, 106 previously) turned in a rare modest effort.
ARIZONA BLAZE (92 here, 113 previously) had reasonable claims but ran poorly, quite close up before finding little.
WASHINGTON HEIGHTS (87 here, 107 previously)
KERDOS (87 here, 105 previously)
LADY IMAN (75 here, 106 previously) got messed around a bit in the run but basically ran poorly, her best form entitling her to go close in receipt of such a large weight-for-age concession.
SPARTAN ARROW (85 here, 104 previously)
MANACCAN (81 here, 97 previously)
SPICY MARG (64 here, 99 previously)
