Verdict

KALAMUNDA ran a blinder to finish second on his seasonal debut in a deeper race over C&D a fortnight ago and can go one better with the run under his belt and dropped in class. Sir Edward Lear has struggled over further and is one to keep a close eye on in the betting, given he is as yet untried over a mile. Tactical Plan and Man Of Desert can also have a say.

If KALAMUNDA can use a generous mark to his advantage he has every reason to run well, having gone back up in form when second of nine runners over this course (but an 8f distance) last time. Great Mates experienced a slip in form last time, but had mostly been running well beforehand, while Man Of Desert holds a lenient mark but has been generally inconsistent across his career.
