Verdict

SOVEREIGN SPELL was disqualified for his Windsor success in August and ran well on his nursery bow when placed at Doncaster the following month. Connections take advantage of the fact he can run in a maiden and he is expected to be tough to beat. Royal Poetry shaped well on her racecourse bow at Southwell and looks the most likely threat to the selection. Others to consider are Gris De Chine and Cosmic Jive.

Royal Poetry showed plenty on debut when travelling well but not seeing out the 8f trip. She's down 2f in trip but is bred for 7-10f so whether she'll quite have the speed to beat SOVEREIGN SPELL remains to be seen. The selection won a Windsor novice last August before later being disqualified and his subsquent Doncaster third in a handicap sets the standard. Romeo's Guardian is third choice even though he didn't show a lot on debut. He represents good connections and appeals as a potential improver.
