Verdict

MOON TARGET, who bettered her fourth-placed finish in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot when she was a creditable third in Prix Rothschild at Deauville, looks the one to side with as she steps outside of Group 1 company for the first time this season. Valiant Stakes winner Kon Tiki can give the Sir Mark Prescott-trained filly the most to think about, with her form profile stacking up well. Calendar Girl and Pacific Mission are closely matched after being the first two across the line in the Dick Hern at Haydock. The former can uphold that form and shades preference as the best alternative.

Moon Target sets the standard after some solid runs at the top level in the Coronation and the Prix Rothschild. She is proven on varying ground which is a positive given the uncertain forecast but she has looked quirky often refusing to settle. CALENDAR GIRL certainly hasn't finished improving and it was impressive that she was up to landing a Listed contest last time on her return from 10 months off. She is already a Group winner and has also enjoyed success on a soft surface so looks to have plenty in her favour today. She is the selection but there are a host of dangers including unbeaten C&D winner Secret Of Life. It was a weak Listed contest she took last time but she was backed as if she was a class above which she showed herself to be. She can fight for a place with So Regal who was twice a winner in the spring and a touch unlucky not to complete the hat trick in the Michael Seely where she wound it up too soon. That form has been boosted so if she is fit after a break she should also be bang there.
