Verdict

CYRANO DE BERGERAC makes his handicap debut carrying top weight - minus Luke Catton's claim - but a rating of 81 seems fair enough after he got off the mark by three lengths at Nottingham. The form of that race is open to question, but the Palace Pier colt could do no more than put them to the sword with a front-running performance. Hot And Cold might try to take him on from the start after being beaten a head over shorter at Ascot, while Blue Noon can chase them home.

Watch out for: Hot And Cold (2)

CYRANO DE BERGERAC is a strong selection here. He has built on his debut promise since being switched to turf and gained a deserved victory last time which makes him look a fair way ahead of his opening mark. If handling the quicker surface he can get the better of Hot And Cold who was only narrowly denied in her hat trick bid but will need to settle better over this longer trip. Knightsail may just need this after a break but he's another who looks to have been given a lenient opening mark so is worth a market check.
