A well-run race but not a good overall time (3rd-fastest of 4 at the trip on the card) and it is probably best not to rate the form especially highly, for all that the first 2 are pretty good prospects. The runners came stand side, with the leader closest of all to the rail, but drifted to the centre by the finish. The winner’s 24.72s final 2f (99.7%) was second-slowest over the 3 days and an indication that the well-watered surface was significantly slower by this stage than the official description of “good to firm”
(109+ here, 87+ previously) looks a smart prospect, for all that this form is just short of that level, rearing as he left his stall then held up mid to rear before improving well to lead just inside the final 1f, showing his inexperience by hanging left but on top near the finish and just pushed out vigorously by the line. By Dubawi, there is some lovely miling blood on his dam’s side and he should be suited by 8f before much longer.
(105+ here, 98+ previously) is still a smart prospect despite not improving as much as expected from his impressive Leopardstown debut victory, still green held up in mid-field, headway and carried a bit left 2f out then making no further impression until going on quite well right at the death. By Wootton Bassett, out of a 10f-winning sister to the Derby winner Serpentine, he should be suited by 8f this year and 10f/12f next.
(105 here and previously) showed useful form again (the BHA handicapper seems to have under-rated his 2nd to Pacific Avenue the time before) and may yet do better, mostly in 2nd , carried left 2f out and one paced under pressure when squeezed out near the finish. A Too Darn Hot half-brother to Earthlight among others, he will probably stay 8f in time but does not need a step up in trip just yet.
(99 here, 94 previously) ran his best race yet despite spoiling his finishing effort by hanging left, setting a good pace before veering away from the stand rail 2f out, headed just after 1f out and no extra.
(98 here, 97 previously) struggled to go the pace in rear but stuck to his task for another creditable effort.
