Expert Analysis
Despite the small field, this Group 3 contest had an open look about it. Many of the field had questions to answer and it was WINE DARK SEA who did so most positively, as he made all of the running to record a relatively cosy length and a half success. He was allowed to dictate at a steady tempo and kick from the front in the straight.
WINE DARK SEA resumed his progress here after it temporarily stalled at Newmarket in July. The four-year-old, having his first start at Group level, controlled the race from the front, setting a pace to suit himself, before gradually winding it up in the home straight. Well supported before the off, his backers never really had a moment’s doubt, with the chasing pack only making marginal gains late on.
TABLETALK didn’t really get the run of the race. Held up off the steady pace, he had to come around the field in the home straight. He did make up some ground in the final two furlongs but had too much to do and as a result never looked like winning but did well to get second close home.
DUBAI HONOUR briefly looked a threat on his return to action after a break here. He travelled well inside the final three furlongs but couldn’t get close enough to strike and the winner saw it out better.
REBEL ROCKER travelled well to a point but weakened in the final two furlongs.
GAMRAI was unable to go with the leaders as the race developed in the home straight.
