Verdict

Barrister showed more when third on his handicap bow over 1m4f here and may improve for this step up in distance. Kakirra seeks to complete a four-timer and holds an obvious chance, but the vote goes to LA PEREGRINA. Ed Walker's charge produced a career best when first past the post at Goodwood, only for the stewards to intervene, and a similar performance would help him gain compensation.

KAKIRRA has been progressive through the early stages of the season and completed a hat-trick at Wolverhampton last time, showing a willing attitude to get the job done. Although this is another step up in trip, his upward trajectory suggests he could relish the extra distance and he looks the one to beat. La Peregrina improved for the move up to 12f at Goodwood last time when first past the post before the placings were altered by the stewards, and, with further stamina likely to unlock more improvement, is an obvious danger over this longer trip. Two Plus Two is another in good form and remains on a competitive mark, with his front-running style likely to see him involved if allowed to dictate after only being beaten by a nose at Nottingham last time.
