Verdict

CARRY THE FLAG should take all of the beating. Rated 101, he beat the recent Curragh Group 2 winner and Albany Stakes second Sun Goddess over C&D in May before finding only subsequent Coventry Stakes winner Great Barrier Reef too strong in the Marble Hill. A lacklustre effort in the Norfolk at the Royal meeting can be forgiven and he can resume his progress in these calmer waters. The dangers are Big Negotiator and newcomer Rejoinder, a well-bred son of Space Blues.

A weak Listed race that can go to CARRY THE FLAG, who although a beaten favourite when unsuited by the drop to 5f in the Group 2 Norfolk at Royal Ascot, holds strong form claims and ought to win this Coolmore-sponsored event before venturing back into Group events. Big Negotiator struggled in the Queen Mary, but was progressive previously and rates the most likely danger. Brazilian Diva, off the mark in a Naas maiden last time, appeals as best of the remainder, although has a bit to find with the seleciton.
