Verdict

KING CUAN returned from his summer holiday to take off in the Concorde Stakes, winning as he liked. Paddy Twomey's five-year-old has a penalty to contend with but such was the authority of that performance, he must be stuck with. Faiyum is a big danger in receipt of 8lb and she was just denied a 2026 breakthrough at Naas, although the winner was put in her place by the selection at the Curragh. Zodiac Bear can be forgiven his miserable experience in the Minstrel Stakes, while Dublin's Knight is a fascinating addition to Joseph O'Brien's team because he beat subsequent Saratoga and Hollywood Derby winners at Keeneland when last seen.

Watch out for: Faiyum (7)

A strong contest for the level but it was hard not to be impressed with KING CUAN who made his progress effortlessly when landing the Concorde Stakes last time. He does need to prove his stamina but he was going away at the line that day over 7f so is worth sticking with. Faiyum is fairly closely matched with the selection on collateral following her narrow defeat in the Garnet Stakes last time where she hit the front too soon. The Group 3 winner has been running into form this term and looks a big threat getting weight from the entire field. Dublin's Knight is likely to need the run on his stable debut but he proved progressive in maidens in America and could be a useful recruit. He is worth following in the betting.
