Verdict

AL WATHBA shaped with bundles of promise when only finding subsequent Vintage Stakes runner-up Haffner too good on his debut at Newmarket and, with improvement likely, he could prove very hard to beat. Ebt's Warrior changed hands for 65,000 euros as a yearling and is a half-brother to Corazon, who was a Group 3 winner as a juvenile. Jimtrott has finished second in both starts so far and isn't out of this either.

AL WATHBA, a 900,000 euros Wootton Basset colt, made a highly encouraging debut when runner-up at Newmarket and, with that form already franked at Group level, he looks capable of going one better now for the in-form Charlie Appleby and Godolphin. No Nay Never colt Jimtrott ran about to the same level as his debut promise when finishing second at Newbury and should improve again for this step up to 7f, though he's likely to find today's main rival too strong. Ebt's Warrior represents an interesting newcomer with a pedigree containing plenty of winners and is worth noting on debut, but looks an unlikely winner against this already experienced pair.
