Bought out of William Haggas' yard in the autumn, HEADMASTER has already recouped his purchase price of 48,000gns after a win here in May and a fine second over 7f at Cork last month. He's up another 3lb for that latest run, but there should be more to come from the superbly-bred four-year-old, who is by Dubawi out of three-time Prix de la Foret winner One Master. Dark Ace is also progressive and, after a profitable spring campaign in Britain, was a closing third over 5f here on Derby weekend behind Genesis. He'll be suited by stepping back up in distance. Prolific handicap winners in Britain, Dark Thirty and Sondad have to enter calculations too.
A huge field and plenty need considering. Jessica Harrington looks to have a progressive 3yo sprinter on her hands in ORO BLANCO, who won a 7f maiden before followin up dropped to 6f at Naas last time. An opening mark of 88 could underestimate him with him remaining capable of a good deal better. Gavoo is respected in the first-time visor, but Headmaster might be a bigger danger. A winner over C&D two starts back, he ran every bit as well over 7f last time and a 3lb rise might not be enough to stop him going close. The Highway Rat, back up to 6f and in a first-time visor, and Bodhi Bear, third in a C&D Listed race last time, are others to take seriously.
